Autocross numbers-duel driver cars

Autocross newbee question: For dual driver cars, do we need 2 different numbers and then change numbers between drivers or can we display both? Can we get the numbers at our first autocross or must we request in advance?

Richard:

Each driver is issued a number. So 2 people will have 2 different numbers whether they share a car, or drive their own individual car.

Number changes are critical only during timed runs at events, so the Timing Team can see who's about to do their timed runs. During practice runs, one set of numbers can suffice for the cornerworkers to call in DNF's or control issues. It is common for a shared-car to have one set of numbers during the practice sessions.

Numbers range in the triple digits right now. So, plan on having a 200, 300, 400-series number. Often, people order their numbers with an additional numeral "1", so all you have to do is stick the "1" up to change the number (ie: 494 becomes 1494).

You can request a number prior to an event through the event registrar, or wait until the day of the event, and bring tape to display the number. (Personally, I'd ask for a number ahead of time, and go to some place like edecals.com, or other decal shop to order the numbers.) Contact Prereg@pcasdr.org for details about number asignment, and availability (like number 927, if your birthday is September 27th). Numbers issued to individuals remain locked until that person releases the number, so there's no risk of any number duplication.

Hope this helps!

When a number is assigned, is that number only good at PCA SDR events, or are they good at all Zone 8 events, or are they good for all PCA events nationwide?
Is there somewhere we can check to see what numbers are available?

Unfortunately, numbers assigned by SDR are only guaranteed to be yours at SDR events. Each region may assign you different numbers, if you go to another region's events. Contact the registration team to see what is available.

You could also contact Martin Rienhardt to get your vinyl numbers to put on your car. He is a club member and does a great job.
