I was able to match his 109.4 in practice with my timed only to hit a freakin cone after the timing lights...

He had a total of 2 laps in my car with me in it, so more time possible there. He gave me a ride in the Smurf... :surr:

Anyone who rides in my car does great.... Erik got TTOD and Dan Chambers got a smokin time... They learn from me what not to do...

Thanks for the ride in the "Gulf" machine, Dan. That was really fun. And yes, you did teach me a couple of things that were really helpful ... post-timing cone notwithstanding.

I really liked the track, too. Great job to the "Team" for putting on another great event. Those of you not there: you reeaallyy missed it.

Now, if only my clutch didn't fail after everyone went home ... :banghead: T.G. for AAA.

Great job AX team. Smooth running event. No stoppages to reroute the track and everyone seemed to have a great time.

While I did not have a car for the day, I certainly enjoyed watching the well-oiled SDR AX Team at work. Particularly, I have to note that the driver's meeting was especially thorough and each chair's use of notes to cover the essentials is a great practice.

This time, I'll take responsiblity to do the Observer's Report myself to the National office with kudos to all involved.

You know you could have run those belts at the ax..

Sorry to hijack but
We are getting different answers on the belts from different people. I really wanted to drive this AX since I can't make it to many of the AXs this year. Maybe the next AX we'll make it.

So is the manufacturer wrong? Belts not valid after 2009!

I just checked my phone and it says 2009... :D belts show Mar 02 2004, I would be extremely surprised if the ax team would not allow you to run those belts for an ax, considering there are others using 3 point 30 year old belts.

Can we get a ruling?

If you have read the rules and still can't figure out what the rules intention is then contact the Z-8 rules chair which is Tom Brown.

PCA Zone 8 Rules ... Five and six-point restraint systems over five (5) years old, of questionable condition, design, material, mounting, which are not installed according to the manufacturer’s directions, or which are in any way unsafe, will be disallowed. ...

PCA Club Racing Rules ... Strap material must be replaced every five years but straps should be inspected regularly and replaced sooner if needed....

POC Rules ... Material of all restraints (stock or otherwise) must be in good condition. Restraint system webbing used in Solo Sprint and Racing events must be date labeled and replaced every 5 years. ...

The club rules above are definetly unclear to me and in my opignion should match the FIA rules below.

FIA Rules ... FIA-labelled belts are valid for five [5] years from last day of the year of manufacture unless regulated differently by the sanctioning body of the motorsport in which you are participating. The last year of FIA validity is indicated on the label. Each separate strap assembly is labelled with a FIA main label or a FIA identification label.. ...

I will check with Tom B. But it sounds like if I don't change the harnesses that I will have to go thru this over and over again.
