John, check out this. It gives you some good views and a track map for the 3.1 mile course in black.

Turns 2, 5 & 10 have addition pavement for trackout that wasn't there a year and a half ago when I was there last.
Very nice surface, maybe 1year old.

This will be a great equalizer track for POC. The gazillion horse power cars will not run away from everyone and I don't think anyone will get lapped due to the lack of straights for the high horse power cars and the length of the lap times. There are plenty of places to pass and it should be a fun track to race on.

my 2 cents.

Back to the original question of is it possible. The answer is yes, with enough power. At the Redline Time Attack (3.1 mile configuration) I was crewing for the Fontana Nissan team and their full ALMS prepped, 490hp, 2650lb 350Z and it was doing 2:23s and the car that won was a 980whp NSX that did a 2:13. If you bring horse power it is doable but you need a lot. The NSX was doing >170mph in a couple spots. For reference the NSX does better than a 1:18 on the big track at willow.

Wow!!!
Not sure what is more impressive--the 2:13 or the 980 rwhp!!!! Must have been amazing to watch.
Now all we need to do is find an AR car with 800 rwhp??

It certainly was something to see. I never imagined that 1000hp could be put to the ground effectively with 2WD but with the right tires and setup apparently it can. Being a time trial format though, these guys were going for broke quite literally. The NSX was running 38 pounds of boost and was only good for a couple laps between head gaskets. Another impressive car was Chris Rado's Scion tc with a giant front wing. He was running 54 pounds of boost for timed laps putting him at around 1200hp in a front wheel drive car  He said the motor is only good for about one and a half laps at that boost level though. I forget what Chris was running at spring mountain as he was having issues with brake bias but he holds the FWD record at WSIR with a 1:23.

Well, I had a good time reading all the banter about this BRI topic. Makes me think I should start engineering and building an AR-3 class car! An AR-3 class car might just be quick enough to take the BRI at Spring Mountain next year :burnout: :burnout:

Ahhhhh!
Remember this thread?
We now have the POC times at Spring. Mt. to ponder.
And, it looks like the truth about what is possible for an AR2 car to run is quite surprising (to me, at least!).
These are the Red Group Sunday Qualifying times

Congrats to Jad for running his best time ever. And to all the SDR drivers who did a great job!
And, to whomever said that no one would get lapped in the race, I got lapped by the two frontrunners in the V2 car I was driving! :(

You need to pedal faster John. :)

You didn't have your car, this doesn't count.
