You could gas up and prep in Palm Desert just before you hit the 10 fwy east (there's a Costco with gas right next to the 10) or take your chances on fuel, etc. down the road.
Just guessing, but I'd recommend trailering even for a one day event. A breakdown out there means "desert cast away" unless you can pimp a haul from a buddy.
Looks like a fun track, all in all. Maybe KOA can set something up out there.
