Other-Car AX: Cone Count Challenge

Postby Carl Scragg on Thu Dec 16, 2004 10:23 am

Since we have no official competition during the Other-Car AX Saturday, we thought it might keep things interesting to introduce the “Cone Count Challenge”. Each competitor will have the opportunity to make a donation to Children’s Hospital for every cone that you hit during the day. For most of us, maybe $2 per cone would be about right, but some of you trash-talking hot-shoes might be confident enough to pledge even more.

Since the AX chairs are buying everyone a nice lunch, you should have a few extra bucks in your pockets and it’ll help brighten the Holidays for the kids at Children’s Hospital.

Many Thanks and Happy Holidays Everyone. :D

Have you seen the cone marks on my car?

I might have to go BK!

I think the wider cars should bet a 2 cone per lap handicap!

Hmmm - maybe Carl has just come up with an idea for keeping drivers under control without a black flag - have an escalating fee for hitting cones at an event.

Charge .25 for the first cone, then double it for each cone thereafter. Of course, at the 13th cone, it would cost you $1024... That ought to be enough motivation to keep it on the track.

Just kidding - before anybody thinks this is a serious idea, keep in mind that this would actually encourage some people to try too hard to "save" a spin, which is probably more dangerous than driving off under control and eating a cone or three.
