Tire pressure

Postby 944Greg on Wed Oct 20, 2010 10:28 pm

Driving a 996 now, I need to figure out tire pressures.

Its a bone stock 2003 996 coupe. Street tires are 17".

I have 18" wheels that will be used for DE's and TT's. The tires are new Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08, front 225/40, rear 285/30. Front camber is only about -0.5 with stock suspension and rear is -1.5. (I know I should take all 8 points and move from Street Stock to Stock to gain camber etc, but I'll wait to see what rules we may be running in the future before making mods.)

What HOT tire pressure should I shoot for with DE's and TT's as a starting point? I do have a pyrometer to test temps after each run session to fine tune.

Hi Greg,

I have not run a DE or TT as yet but, for the AX's I am running Cold 33psi Front and 34psi Rear, on the old Water Buffalo (1999 996 Cab) and these pressures seem to work pretty well. At these pressure's after a 5 lap AX I am seeing 38psi Hot on the Fronts and 39 to 40psi Hot on the Rears.

I believe Mike Avitt runs a 996 on DE's and TT's.

Cheers, :beerchug:

Wow! 365's in the back. I never noticed how wide your rear fenders are. I think they're probably 265's.
