WHO'S IN WHAT CLASS IN 2012?

Postby lbevins on Thu May 12, 2011 1:25 pm

Sorry if this subject has been discussed already, but does anyone know if there is a master list somewhere that breaks down who is running in what class next year (with the new class system)? I'm in CC13 and am just curious who I'll be running with. Also interested in who's just below (in CC14) and just above (in CC12). I realize that not everyone has done the calcs yet and that people will move around as they either add or delete mods... But it would still be fun to start seeing where things are falling out.

Cheers!

I'm in CC12 or CC11 depending on tires and how much more weight I take out.

Great segue, Pastor Mark... Of course I'm crossed : "At the cross, at the cross, where I first saw the light and the burden of my heart rolled away...". You know the old favorite.

Hello all,

If people want to email me their 2012 class information, I will start a list and post it on the trailer cork board at the next AX :)

Send your information to: prereg1@cox.net
I think all I need is your name and 2012 class.

Thanks, Martha

We are in CC10 in our current configuration with the Nitto NT-01s.

If we are able to make the changes we hope to, we are planning on running in CC10.

Since the base points values are still a moving target, where we finally land is, of course, still TBD.

After the Jan. AX, Tom B. posted a listing of the results using the new classes in this thread: http://forum.pcasdr.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4594&p=33783

There were quite a few people who hadn't quite figured out their actual 2012 classification yet, so the results weren't that accurate, but you can see where some folks might fall from it:
Jan. 15 class results
Jan. 15 BRI results

Perhaps it would be helpful to do this exercise again with the results from the last few autocrosses and publish it, since people have had more time to figure out their actual classes for 2012 and enter them correctly on their entries at motorsportsreg.com? We should have the data captured somewhere.

You can also look at the TT season results so far to see who is where, as they are already using the 2012 classes:
http://results.pcasdr.org/season_standings.php?time_format=0&database=tt
My take on these is that we are very "top heavy" in CC06, X, and "Unknown" in the TT series. The autox series will not resemble that, I don't think.

There was also a 6-page thread started in Jan, by Jad about "What is your new class?" where a lot of people answered:
http://forum.pcasdr.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4540
There have been some base class point revisions, etc., that may mean some of those older posts were "guesstimates," I don't know. Personally, my base points haven't changed. I can run in CC13 if I ballast up to stock weight in my '68 911 (or use tires with 100 or higher treadwear), or in CC12 if I run V710s and no ballast.

SS7 (there probably will not be enough SS7 cars to play with, so I will run the CC class)

CC9 (560 points, 440 base points, plus 100 points for tire width and 20 points for treadwear 180 tires) using my wider 18" wheels (probably the class I will be in). BTW, I can stay in this class even if I put on some Kumho V710's or Hoosier R6's.

CC10 if I get treadwear 200+ tires.

CC11 if I use my narrower 17" wheels and narrow tires.

The first thing you notice when you look at the TT season results is that there seems to be more competition and more drivers in each class. I think that will be even more so with the AX series. If we can get an online points calculator like GGR has to classify cars, that will make it a lot easier for drivers to class their cars and then we can see who's in each class and which mods they're using.
Should be a lot of fun and very challenging.
