Bravo Steve! A well deserved TTOD. Yes the track felt a little slow to me too. Somehow Otto lost some ponies out of his corral so the while the door was open you walked right in.
Absolutely! Steve's 2:05.1 lap was outstanding and allowed the SDG Region to hold onto the TTOD for this event for the second year in a row
The "ponies out of my corral" (30 to 40 depending on outside temperature) are indeed still lost and we haven't been able to find them. My best times for the weekend were low 2:07's which is hard to swallow after driving low 2:02's on that track last year with the "same" (in theory) setup on my car. I checked my G2X lap-timer and my top speeds for this event at the end of the main straights on the best lap were about 8 mph slower than last year's top speeds, which is significant. Anyway, enough excuses. We need to find out the source of the problem which we have had since early this year. The dyno runs have been showing an extremely rich air-to-fuel ratio (under 10) for most of the rev range so obviously we are injecting too much fuel or producing too little air, or maybe both. We are going to be looking into the turbocharger next, which is a brand-new stock unit from Porsche that we replaced earlier this year after clocking 25 years on the old unit, which I had to turn in as core charge. We will also check the exhaust headers. Well, we have the summer to figure it out. Hopefully we will be in fighting form at Big Willow in September. See you there
