Several interesting rules proposals

The rules committee would appreciate your reasoned input on these. Do keep it civil and friendly, and sooner rather than later would be great so our rules maven has enough time to post your thoughts.

A well driven intelligent build?

I wish I had a dollar for every time someone told me what a cheater car that was.
Love telling them you brought the car to me at the shop for an open book inspection.
(I wasn't so sure it was 100% correct until I looked at it)
100% legit.

BUT:
Rules are intended to create a reasonably fair playing field. No rule set is without loopholes if you want to spend countless hours researching your possibilities.
Porsche has made an art of this.
I have even built a loophole car or two over the years. 8)
it is a lot more satisfying than spending your way to the winners circle.

....One of the ways to spot rule inequities is to see cars gaming the system and destroying their class competitors and the BRI every event. There are several examples of cars running undersized street tires and very low weight with no other mods, taking advantage of this loophole in the current rules....

"Gaming the system" to some is carefully reading and "playing by the rules" to another. But that's why we have rules proposals and improvements.
That said, ride with the guy sometime, he's a ferocious driver...

Discussion about cheater cars usually goes something like this: "He/she keeps beating me so I'm pretty sure that they're cheating somehow". It's called using the rules to your advantage. I'd rather drive as hard as I can against a driver of similar skill in a similar car and let the chips fall where they may. In my experience, if they beat you all the time, it's because they're outdriving you. Adam is a very skilled driver who's found the sweet spot for his car and will figure out a way to do it again if the rules are changed.

I'll send in my comments on this unbelievably convoluted and nearly impossible to enforce rule proposal as well as the other rules proposals to the zone 8 rules chair. Eyebrow raising proposals indeed.

Steve, thanks for building my cheater car.

I have 3 words for a driver gaming the system and building a BRI killer within the rules: Bravo, well done! :beerchug:

It shows he actually read and understood the rules, considered his options carefully, and built a winning car taking full advantage of as many free performance mods as possible. That is a good example of how this game is supposed to be played. He also must be pretty keen behind the wheel. That said, there will always be room for proposals that seek to increase fairness for all PCA participants. Post your comments in accordance with our proposal guidelines please. We want to hear your views on this stuff. Comments addressing actual rule proposals carry more weight than comments addressing comments, addressing comments... :D

The deadline for comments on Rules Proposals is coming up this weekend (Aug 31). Make sure you send them to Rules@Zone8.org, as the rules committee meets to discuss these at the Zone 8 meeting next week...
