Great points Dave. The Q's pavement is horrific in so many locations. If anyone thinks a map can be printed from a computer then just transposed down on that parking lot is clueless and needs to show up at 0500 and be enlightened with Jerry and Rodney's efforts.

IMHO I think it is an impossibility for a track to be perfect for every car type. Wide open layouts are great for high powered cars but can be boring for lower powered vehicles. Tight technical tracks can be frustrating for some but a challenge for others. This is an AX not Laguna Seca.

Jerry & Rodney's thinking of a technical tight slow track right after a HPDE was spot on for so many newbies joining us for the 1st time.

because a track is tight and slow does not make it technical, and because a track is wide open and fast does not make it less technical. multiple line choices, which corners to give up, trade offs, decisions, finding the rhythm, and flow identify a technical track. an exit from a parking garage is tight and slow, but not technical. like the track on the 29th, you just try to get out and not hit anything...

I've got the message... the track wasn't well liked. I'm trying to come up with tracks that are safe and enjoyed, but this one didn't succeed.

I mean, c'mon, someone says something supportive and it has to be refuted? I'm sorry you didn't like the track. Aren't we all on the same team here?

Can we move on now?

For lots of years many of us have done, and are still doing, various jobs in the club that have contributed to the AX and other events in the club. Your 0500 show up comment and clueless comment don't apply to experienced Drivers and Volunteers who 'have a clue'. Try doing hours of AX pre-registration, corralling people to corner work on and off all day, the stress of the timing job, or being responsible for all the students and Instructors, tech inspection, etc. These jobs take effort too and we are smart to consider comments that can improve everyone's experience.

We need more Volunteers and if you send out a flare, the Board will see it and help you solve any problems.

Yes, we are all on the same team, but it costs us some bucks to drive and we want the event to be the best it can possibly be. :D

General whining, complaining and attacks on (newer) volunteers with unending criticism of people just trying to contribute to all having a good time --- generally why I refuse to participate in PCASDR AX events anymore. Nice way to make new folks feel totally unwelcome. The attitude of "we've been racing for a long time and ONLY we know what makes this good and not good - so listen up", well it just conveys a total NON-TEAM message. Too many people that can't play well in the sandbox together!

Just my opinion!

Go ahead -- fire away now.

I'm not going to "fire away" exactly, but I do think that your post lacks perspective--I don't think this thread consists of "General whining, complaining and attacks on (newer) volunteers with unending criticism of people." I perceive it as constructive criticism and discussion, representing both sides of the issue, and I hope that Rodney is not going to feel so "attacked" that he will "refuse to participate in PCASDR AX events anymore" as you have done. May I ask if you had some similar experience with volunteering that precipitated such a decision? It might be helpful to elaborate, so that we can all learn something.

As a forum admin, though, I would like to point out that anonymous posting is contrary to the terms and conditions of use for the forum as established by the BoD. (See http://forum.pcasdr.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1026) Since you joined the forum before this policy was put in place, as have many others, I have edited your signature file to include your real name. I would encourage all other users who joined the forum under a username other than their real name to do likewise (add their real name to their signature file or sign their posts with their real name). Personally, I think such a policy makes for a more civil level of discussion than other internet forums out there, where users can throw anonymous bombs from the sidelines or troll endlessly without accountability. And no, I am not saying your post was in that category, but I do wish to know more about why you feel so negatively about the club.

let's see you are calling me childish and a whiner, where you on the other hand picked up your toys and went home the minute something went wrong so you wouldn't have to associate with these mean people. then you get on the forum and try an anonymous post calling us non-team players and attacking volunteers. chutzpah, unchecked... no volunteer position other than president gets more heat than ax chair, all those who have been ax chair have designed bad tracks, and most have lived to design another day, it's a learning curve (and, the criticism was about the track, not about the volunteer) you learn not to take it personally, because it is not meant that way.

maybe if you had stuck around, you might have found that out.

on second thought maybe it's better you didn't...

video of the Good Guys Del Mar track, a so called AX track. :roflmao:
Just looks like short straights to spin your tires conected by tight 180 degree turns.

At least there was a short straight between the turns and they were only 180 and not 270 degrees :roflmao:
