Chuckwalla Photos

Apparently a quiet group returning from the weekend DE/TT at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway.
Yes it was hot, but overall went very smoothly with lots of ice and drinks. But I did not spend a lot of time out taking photos :surr:

Congrats to Michael Brown for TTOD and Steve Groskemper for top BRI and 5th overall :beerchug:
Thanks to Jack & Robert for another great event as well as the Blues jam with Dave, Dan and Dan  DAN MAN DOWN!

Thanks for some great pics to remember the weekend by, Greg. It was a blast to finally get Cupcake out on a big track. I learned a great deal from some outstanding drivers.

I'll second that congrats to Steve G. on his timed runs. After breaking axle bolts in the middle of his timed runs, coming in to repair the car ridiculously fast, getting back in the car and go turn a lap like that to take the BRI showed impressive composure and focus. Well done!

If you liked that Adam, you will have to ask him about the time the engine FELL OUT at Fontana. If I remember correctly, they didn't miss a single run session. My son, a witness to the event at the time, still talks about it to this day.

Great pictures. Thanks Greg for braving the heat to take them.

Our drivers are multi-talented. Great mechanic, musicians, photographer, plus all who cooked great meals. That makes the weekend just more enjoyable.

Mike, congrats on TTOD. We both had a rare chance to take TTOD and you grab it with consistent driving :beerchug:

See you all at WSIR.

Thank you as always for the great pictures Greg. You do a fine job of capturing both the cars and the faces.

Congrats to top of the mountain Mike Brown, and Steve G. for pulling out a narrow CC09 victory while driving around moving red chicanes. Bravo! Hats off to Adam Gill who drove brilliantly and managed to split the Boxster Bros in Timed Runs.

The Saturday night blues jam and BBQ were relaxing and fun and I am sure that Frank Powell will be pleased that Friday night Chuckwalla tradition has been preserved.

Now off to get my car sorted so she will be 100% battle ready for our next meeting. See ya all then.

Thanks to all who made the event a success. Huge thanks to Dan Hockett who provided a cool, quite, and shady motor home for anyone to hang out in - it simply took the edge out of the heat.

Thanks again, Dan.

Great photos, Greg. As always, you "capture the moments" really well.

Great weekend and great competition. Did we mention it was HOT? Real-location thermometer in the pits read in the +110-degrees both days.( We burned as much gas keeping the trailer air-conditioner on as we burned driving... well almost.) :surr:

Kudos to all the drivers for keeping it safe and really pushing the envelop. Ethan was the spoiler in CC-11 (the guy just rocks), and everyone had a great time in the 97-degree "cool temperature" of Saturday night blues jam. Driving videos being processed now.

Great show of innovative repairs by "Mr. 911-SG" as well as a great BRI victory over the "2013 TT Driver of the Year." Better watch your mirrors, Steve.

Nice driving by Mike Brown in the Smurf-mobile. Would have been interesting to see how things would have shaken out if the Duncan-mobile was running.

Now ... Summer break. Time to wax the longboards and review the data for the fall events. 8) Cowabonga, dudes/dudettes!

Really great event even with the heat that to me didn't feel as bad as some past events at Big Willow in the summertime.
Might have been the EZ up farm and air conditioned trailers though...
Love being able to MacGyver Bill I's sway bar bracket back together and then watch as he did the hard work of putting it back together.
And thanks to the team for helping me get my axle bolts repaired. It looked Like an F-1 pit stop. 6 guys, 10 minutes and I was back on the grid-Sweet.
(Finally found and corrected the root of that problem-thankfully)

Really great group of people to hang out with and have a common goal of helping each other go faster.
I usually don't have to watch out for Mark in my mirrors; he is usually clearly in front of me...
Plain and simple; for the first time this year I had the better tires at timed runs.
But I am afraid I might have awakened the beast. I am sure that little silver car with be sporting stickers at Big Willow and the tables will be turned.

But the competition is what makes this so fun.
See most of you at the May 24th AX to kick off the summer.

So right, Steve, but there's no one to play with in CC10. I've to see what it takes to squeeze back down into CC09, or just bump up into CC11. Chasing you, Mark and Greg in 09, or Frank, Dan-Man and Danno in 11 - either way - lots more fun!

Cant really go wrong up or down...
All a great group of drivers...
Put on some 225/245 R6's and you will be in CC09 or put on 245 fronts, take out some weight and add some HP and come up to 11.

Don -

FWIW, if my calculations are correct, your times this year would have you leading CC11 for the season by one point as of Sunday.

Well, yes, considering that Frank missed this last event. Still, it must have you thinking you'll miss all the fun if you don't stick around in CC11 for the rest of the year.
