High octane fuel in North County?

Postby terryb on Sat Oct 25, 2014 5:18 am

Mark K. just rebuilt my 3.2 due to a broken piston ring and he recommended increasing the fuel octane. Any recommendations for high octane or race fuel in Oceanside, Carlsbad or Vista? What's the best jerry can or container to use for transport in the 911?

Thanks,
-Terry

Terry,
There was an earlier thread here on the forum about 100 octane unleaded and I think Kim C said he was getting it in Rancho Santa Fe at a Mobil station. Jackie C also mentioned VP racing fuel available @ Valley Center Oil. It looks like Ochs oil @ 1321 Distribution Way in Vista has 100 unleaded Sunoco at the pump http://www.ochsoil.com/racefuel/sunocol%28h%29.html, which might be the best for you.

I have always used Cosby Oil in Mission Valley, but you need a keycard to access it, which requires a credit account to be set up with them first. I also use a VP station in PB on Ingraham because it is close to me, but expensive, and not very convenient for you, obviously. As far as transport goes, I used cheap plastic 5-gallon fuel containers that I believe have been outlawed for sale in CA now, as of 2007 or so. They can still be purchased online though.

There may be new "approved" containers still for sale at C2 and ORW, etc.

Thanks Tom. Before posting I searched and found that thread but figured it might be out of date since it was from 2011-12. I'll check out Ochsoil in Vista.

See everybody at the next AX! It'll be my first since breaking my ankle back in May. Hopefully I'll remember how to drive...

Yes - the Mobil station in Rancho Santa Fe has VP Racing fuels at the pump. It has been a while since I bought any, but a year ago it was $9.99 for 100 octane, $7.99 for 95 octane.
