Not a PCA-SDR sanctioned event, but some members may be interested in dropping by the SD Automotive Museum after the Krispy Kreme gathering on Jan. 10th:

The local groups of the Horseless Carriage Club of America will commemorate the 1915 Road Race that was the opening event for the Panama-California Exposition.

Car Show : A living history show of the cars of the period will be presented in front of the San Diego Automotive Museum in Balboa Park. The drivers and their families will describe the cars and participate in a living history of a 1915 era outing in the park. The public is invited at no charge.

Tour in Point Loma: At 10 am, the road worthy cars will tour out of Balboa Park to the race venue in Point Loma where they will retrace the route of the race, returning to Balboa Park for the rest of the car show. At 10:30 am a ceremonial start will be held at the original grandstand area on Rosecrans St. at Elliot St. in Point Loma. The public is also invited to observe the tour along the route.

For all that are interested there will be about 26 cars on display at the Auto Museum from 9:00am to 4:00pm. As Tom said they will leave for their tour about 10:00am and will travel over the Cabrillo Bridge going east to west for photos. They will be returning up Park, back to the Museum.

I had a chance to get over to Balboa Park and take a few pictures. These cars were amazing to see in person. The cars were very cool and the owners were just as interesting as their cars. I hope you enjoy.

Here's a shot of one of the cars heading towards the Cabrillo Bridge...

Cracks me up...the rider looks like he's holding on for his life!

BTW...cool shots Bruce!
