...afraid of IP class?

Well, I could run a 10 point car in IP - and I
think I'd still be competitive, but 1) I get
a better BRI in IS, 2) I would be tempted to
add those extra 10 points somewhere (I already
have a "slippery slope" II car!), and 3) It's
kinda fun whoopin' the IP cars in an IS car. :lol:

We can still compare times.... :roll:

Thanks, Paul. It seems that most SC's I've seen have the chin spoiler. This is a bad rule.

I wonder if Bill Behun realizes he'll have to drop the 1 point tires or the chin spoiler on his Targa in order to stay in IS/S for one more year.

So I guess I'll still be in IS with my spoilers and and 2 point tires but that hardly seems like a 4 point car.

Oh well, this will be a tough year and I may not make any events until after March anyhow.

Yeah Don, like Paul says it seems I do. That little black piece of rubber has to come off or I'm in IP. My times don't threaten anyone but it seems really stupid to me. If I was doing the big tracks then it might make sense if I also had a tail. Oh, well.

Well, looks like we'll all make amendments for IS class in '08. :cry: I wanted to run 225/235's for tires, but the two-points for the 230 - 245, and NOW the 2-points for spoilers, stock or not :banghead: say: don't do it. :surr: I guess I'll stay on the 225's all 'round, and stay in IS at 7 points: :cry:

2= torsion bars
2= Toyos
2= Spoilers :banghead: :bigcry:
1= Strut tower brace

Yes, we can still compare times. Should still be fun. 8)

Question: how does one submit a "rescind request" for rules? :lol:

Front Spoiler? You guys have made me look at my car again and I guess the car never came with the optional spoiler... or the guy who trashed the car on the owner before me took the spoiler too!

Looks like I can still stay at my minimal Porsche budget and stay in ISS one more year and have fun with the BRI.

Let's see ... Paul's car is named "Snickers", mine is named "Butterscotch" ... Dan, Ron, Don, Lori ... what have you named your cars? C'mon, don't be embarrased, you can tell us all - even real men like Paul and I name our cars!

Okay ... I'm no Jack Sparrow, however; my car is the "Black Pearl" ...(with all the related curses. Heck, it even came from "Davey's Locker" ... not Davey Jones's ... Davey-SQ's :roflmao: ).

The '78 911 SC (Petrol Blue, class II) is "Butch"

My '06 C2S is "Tango"

My old '03 C4S was called Screamin'
(that's its first name, which rhymed
with its last name :shock: :twisted: )

Clarification..

Postby Michael Dolphin on Wed Jan 09, 2008 5:29 pm

Just for clarification -- on the steel bumpered 74-89 cars, the aerodynamic aid consisted of BOTH the front chin spoiler and the whaletale. There was no option to select only one of them. Whether some might initially question a "sales pitch" or not, Porsche also specifically stated a negative effect of one without the other.

As with all rules, this rule is again open for revisiting in '08.

Now I'll go back into my occasional forum review mode...

My 993 is called Guinevere, "Gwen" for short.

There's a long story on the name.

Haven't named the SC, but my truck is "BART". My wife looked out the door the first day I brought it home and stated "that is a Big *** Red Truck". Therefore it stuck.

Seems the real problem with these rules is they try to cover 50 years of cars with one rule.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have the rules divided into years, makes(911/912, SC, Carrera, etc...) instead of trying to lump it all together. It could even be done by classes. Might be more work initially, but it could stop all the misinterpretation.

I never named the Boxster, but the Kinningers came up with the name for the 944. TTW - The Town Wh_r_ (rhymes with more). Something to do with 4 drivers. :P

Dave - Did you tell us what color the SC is?
That might help decide a name, even a clean one.
