I was really lucky to instruct Jeff Doran for two days in his 1975 911S. This guy is going to be trouble if he's in your class. I've never seen such balance, awareness, car sensitivity, and control in a rookie, not to mention courage in turn 9. I'm predicting some pretty good things here. Buy his stock now while it's low.

+1 on that. Jeff was my student at the PDS and for a few autocrosses before and after it. He definitely has some natural car control ability and a taste for speed. He's improving his car and his driving at the same time and will definitely be a force to be reckoned with in HP class for the future.

He did a Great Job for his first Big Willow event.
Just needs more seat time, tires and suspension and I'll have to look out

Remember that anyone who is interested may participate in our Taste of the Track program, available at all Time Trials (only qualification is that you must be at least 18* years of age). For $100 you get to ride along with our Instructors in their cars at speed all weekend (other than for timed runs). You can learn a ton about high performance driving this way, and it's a total blast. We had two people doing it at Willow and I think it's safe to say that both absolutely loved it.

*Note that I had originally written 16 years of age but have since been enlightened as to the proper minimum age for this program which is 18.

With $100, I could taste a good French wine, spectate PGA tournament, play a round of golf etc. But I did the Taste of the Track program.
It was such an exciting experience. WoW~~ . I rode along with Jad, Steve, Jackie, the Mr. president, Robert, Ron, all different cars, all friendly and excellent racers! Much more than expected! I learned a lot, met very nice people, and really enjoyed the atmosphere. Many thanks to you all!!
I felt like the Taste of the Track is worth of $1000.(Don't raise the fee^^). It was amazing that all the racers was fully control of their car at such a fast speed. I never used my right foot! I swear!! Robert, thanks for having me there!! Otto, thanks for introducing me to the excellent racers.

For some reason, people still seem to be surprised when I ride with them and say "FULL GAS".

Hey, i don't promise better tire life, just faster lap times! Probably lucky timing on my part, but as I recall you went 1.5 seconds faster at SOW and 3 seconds faster at Big Willow immediately after I rode with you!

The key is to always drive outside a "normal" persons comfort zone and then it feels regular.
I tried to tell Greg it was "Normal" to drift a 928 through T-9 as long and you straightened up before you ran out of track but he mentioned something about different comfort zones...Bla... Bla... Bla...

Taste of the Track sounds great, I just wish I didn't get car sick so easily!

You are right, motion sickness makes it less fun but a smoother driver can really make it easier on the passenger. (That's why students only stay in the car a few laps with me)
But the track is the real common denominator.
I have an inner ear issue and get motion sickness easily.
In my opinion...
Big Willow is easiest.
Button Willow and Long Spring Mountain are next.

Streets of Willow, Classic Spring Mountain, Fontana infield and Coronado are the ones that give me trouble.

Staying hydrated and staying away from the Chili cheese dogs for lunch is probably he best call.

For motion-sickness issues ... look into Bonine. It's a non-drowsy formula that long-haulers use. It's saved me a few times, too... well, except when I rode with Jad at Buttonwillow. He's just so rough and jerky with the car. ( you know I'm kiddin', right?)
