Nice driving, Mark. Your pass at turn 5 was ... tight. I'm sure Smilin' Dave would agree.

Well, he did point me by and he didn't seem to want to lift.....much.

Nice vid Mark, I got to see the back of my car a lot. You and I are totally cool with your pass at 5. I pointed, knew you were there and gave you room. Sadly not my best work in timed runs. I knew from the out lap that sitting around for 5 hours between sessions I had lost my edge and was consistently 2 seconds off my times in the morning. Greg came out ahead of me and was warming up his tires very carefully (for obvious reasons) so we bunched up pretty quickly. The best move was to let you go and re-focus, but still it was not enough this day. Bravo on some great driving when it counted!

This an interesting battle in CC06 and I am digging it. Our cars weigh essentially the same, with the Boxsters having 11 more hp, the Blue streak having a bit more tire grip and a more experienced driver. When driven brilliantly anyone can win, and it demonstrates that in CC06 the new rules system is really working very well. Looking forward to Chuckwalla CCW. :beerchug:

Dave,

As a good driver should, you telegraphed your intentions well and gave me plenty of room. My favorite point by was the previous lap after the playground. You pointed, I acknowledged and then you kept your foot down and made me chase you. I think that was your fastest lap of the session.

CC06 is going to be a lot of fun this year. I haven't had anyone to compete against since my epic battles with Jackie C. Now I'm driving against two drivers who are very quick and competitive. I don't think I have more tire grip, I just think my car's set up perfectly for my driving style. Steve G has the handling on that car dialed in as well as any car I've ever driven. Imagine what a little extra horsepower would do.

See you at Chuckwalla.

O.K., here's a link to my videos for the weekend:

http://www.lightningmotorsports.us/blog/at-the-track/california-festival-of-speed-2012-videos/

Not a good weekend for me. Mechanical issues, FIRE, and eventually out of commission before timed runs.

A big thanks to Michael Monaco for towing the Boxster home on his trailer, as well as to Don, Fred, and Phil for their help getting it loaded. Don was also instrumental in helping me "gather" hoses and oil. Not only are these guys good friends, they're also FAST.

Russell, I was 3 cars back and heading for turn 10 when I saw the flash ... Whoosh! The fireball was at least 6' high and engulfed the entire back end of your car.

I was very glad to see it go out so fast, and see you getting out of the car ASAP. I'm really glad no one was hurt and the car (hopefully) only suffered minor damage. The important thing: you're OK. 8)

I hope to see you at WSIR, and BW.

Yes, I had new tires on the rear and had orders to take 2 laps to warm them up before pushing :surr:

Here are the later timed laps after the warmup:

Bad, very back luck, Russell...but, very exciting...I think we'll start seeing more Boxster track cars...they're very tempting...

So did anybody behind me have their video on? It's no fun unless you can post the conflagration on YouTube. My Day 1 video only caught the white and black smoke clouds when the oil spun me around.

Unfortunately, I may have hurt the engine from losing so much oil, so Chuckwalla is looking pretty unlikely...

Love swapping positions on the banked turn. He's crazy fast on the banks.

Enjoy. 8)
