Noise testing at July 27th DE?

Postby mrondeau on Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:25 am

Will we be able to set up and check db limits at the DE? I would like to find out if I meet the Laguna Seca noise limits before I get up there.

Kris,

You're fast on the post. I went to get the link and when I got back you'd already posted it. I'll be testing my noise limit there as well. See you guys on the 27th.

Trust me, if you think you might be close to the limit, you probably are WAY over it. The accustics at Laguna often multiply the noises, add a little fog and you can add several db's to your cars normal sound level. And they check.

As stated in another thread, we will pull out and dust off the old db meter for the DE. 8)

None of us wants to get to Laguna Seca and have a noise problem (or any kind of problem actually).

We could use some advice on how they test at Laguna so we can replicate their test method.

My recollection from our method is 50 feet from the course, aimed 90 degrees from direction of travel at about 30 - 36" from the ground at a point along the course that is most likely the loudest. Any thoughts from someone that actually knows the rules would be appreciated.
