I have an AP-22 digital g-force measuring meter for in-car use that I bought a few years ago. It has both longitudinal (forward) and latteral (side-to-side) accelerometers which measure your accelleration up to 100 times per second. Instantaneous data is displayed in the car, and the data can be downloaded to your computer for further analysis, including nice graphical displays using their free software.

I paid $200 plus shipping. For $100 it's yours for pick-up in San Diego.
