FORWARDED FROM BMW CLUB:
Allow me to introduce myself – I’m Gordon Anderson, President of the San Diego Chapter of the BMW Car Club of America. We are conducting a high speed driving school at the Buttonwillow Raceway Park, near Bakersfield, on May 12-13. We would like to invite PCA members to join us at the school. Please note that you do NOT have to join the BMWCCA to participate, although we’d prefer that you join.

If you’ve never been to Buttonwillow, you’ve missed an exciting high speed driving experience. It’s a challenging Grand Prix course around two miles in length, with lots of turns and some elevation changes. BMWCCA provides instructors that ride with you, so whether you’re a novice or very experienced, you’ll be able to enhance your driving skills. There’s also plenty of flat run-off space that allows for a safe track experience. Over the course of two days, you’ll get eight half-hour sessions on the track. There will also be classroom instruction given by experienced instructors. Your entry fee of $430 includes two days of driving, all instruction, lunch on both days, a souvenir shirt, an included banquet on Saturday evening, and a raffle ticket where a set of Toyo tires will be the first prize.

Remember, we don’t allow convertibles (sorry Boxster drivers), and you need a SNELL 2000 or newer helmet, although we do have a limited number of helmets for rent.

If you have questions about the driving school, you can contact Andre Pantec at 619-538-6951. You can contact me at gnanderson@adelphia.net. You can go to our website at: http://sdbmwcca.com/bw-school.html to register for the school. It is strongly suggested that you register by April 26th.

Myself and another SDPCA member with a GT3 will be heading up to Buttonwillow for that weekend. If you haven't attended a school with the San Diego Chapter of BMWCCA,they are a very well organized and fun group of people.

What wasn't mentioned in the first post is that Brecht BMW in Escondido is a sponser of the event and for the past 18 years have brought up the latest and greatest models BMW has to offer to take out on track to "explore" their capabilities.

Hope to see some fellow PCA members there!

The application packet says that cars must have a current registration. I asked the club if this was waivable and they replied that it wasnt because of the insurance they have. I guess I will go to the DE after all!
