This recent project is the result of a lot of help from several local shops.
It is what I wanted a street legal track car.
Allow me to thank those that helped, I would trust any of my cars with all of them again.

Mirage suspension and Jae and Dave's help overseeing the entire project.
John Simone and his fabulous fabrication and composite skills.
My buddy Vick Ofner for building the 3.6.
Performance Independant Porsche for the 3.6 conversion and trans work.
Mark Tyler's Victory Race paints for the super paint job.
Jim Copp's Plenums Plus for all the aluminum car and trailer fabrication.
Auto Power for installing the complete mild steel cage.
Cary at ERP for the 935 suspension parts and track service.
Modern Image for the 8 mil thick 3M clear bra installation.

Here's the car on a lap at SOW last Tuesday (with a passenger).

A year ago at Mirage with the old bodywork, Jae and David complete the first corner balance.

A year ago at Big Willow, Jae does a complete spring scan with sway bars disconected.
Cary from ERP arrives and helps fine tune the adjustable shocks.
It runs 1.27 on 710s.

I decide to upgrade to the Simone look.
The low and wide front track requires John Simone to make some new front fender molds.

The car is done, left to right, John Simone, Jim Duncan, myself and Jason and with the toast.

First time out with the Simone look at Q DE.
John comes down to be sure everything is fine.
John takes it out for a session, he gives it the thumbs up.

It's too low to roll into the trailer.
Jim Copp comes to the rescue with some awesome double length folding trailer ramps.

Jae from Mirage took it down to the wheel dyno and has a custom chip made for the 3.6

Did anyone else notice the nice new burms? Did they actually spend some money to help SOW... :D

Right Jad.
I thought the track was is in good condition.
The two asphalt yellow striped aprons through the chicane are new.
They have short asphalt rumble strips, 4 inches wide spaced 4 inches apart and only 1/4 inch tall.
CCW on throttle you can almost straight line the chicane.
Imho very nice.
CW under braking they help but they can disrupt brakeing (a little).
Still better than a 6 inch drop off onto dirt.

On the video we used the short cut and not the hairpin on the opposite side of the track.
The short cut surface was smooth, and avoided the rough surface on the old hairpin.
I like the short cut too, the track had an improved flow.

I'm looking forward to more in car coaching from Jim D. at the next PCA SOW TT. :D

Does your "street trim" include headlights? Not that the rest of the car isn't street legal. :)

To make it streetable takes about an hour...
I have a second set of matching front fenders with lights.
Takes about 15 minutes to switch fenders and connect the lights.
Intall wiper blades.
Rear Lic plate.
2 mufflers.
Replace the 6 foot straight wing with the Simone wing.
RA-1s on 18s for street tires.
Remove race numbers.


Couple of items it could get dinged for...
no front lic plate.
no rear lic plate light.
no back up lights.
FIA but not DOT seat belts.
Maybe too low? :wink:

I was going to point out cats and airbags, but then I remembered that there is not really a 993 under the skin. Are your CA plates blue or black?

Easy to fix: swap those wimpy 18s for bling 25s. Might need to get John to modify the street fenders, though.

Black plates, it began as a 1969 911T.

Yeah if I did 25 inch spinners... John might say something... :wink:

Looking forward to a combo DE/AX on Monday the 7th @ SOW. Based on what I read in another thread about the GPX Region event, it should be a great Monday of driving.

I hope I see other SDR members there... especially in IS class. I'll need to gauge my ability on how many seconds behind the other competitors I will be. :cry:

See you Sunday. I may be on street tires at SOW. Can't seem to find Toyo RA1 tires for my rear wheels. It seems 275/35ZR18 is a very popular size. I'll run my 710's at the AX. I may be on MX ecsta tires on the 7th.

I don't think I'd humiliate you but I might pass you. 8)

Hey Mike: great "evolution" of a race car. Really great job on a really fine ride. Can I put in a reservation to ride with you at Pahrump or Buttonwillow this fall? I'd like to hear that sound-barrier-breaking Boom again :roflmao: .
