Robert:

Jeff Melnick will probably have the answers re: track cost. summbeach@aol.com

If memory serves, it was about $450.00...but they have 2 race groups, plus 2 TT groups. Looks like 60-75 drivers total.

There were 22 Red, 27 Orange and 25 White and Yellow participants for a total of 74.
The base price was $350 for the week-end. To do the Time Trial cost an additional $25. To do Friday practice day cost an additional $100.

How much did POC charge drivers for this year's outside track event? How many drivers?

I went to an event there last year and it had about as many drivers as we usually have but the price was $500 per driver. Dan, would you be willing to pay more than our usual fee to drive there?

I'll have to be honest Robert $450 - $500, IMHO, is just too much. I am still trying to figure out why the TT price went up $20... Why not the infield at Cal Speedway? Mike G did it and I think he really enjoyed it? Horse Thief Mile? Sometimes I think when the club has the word Porsche attached the tracks add a premium...

Last time I spoke with Phil Tucker @ Cal. Speedway, the inside-only track cost $7500/day. That was in 2005. That price included emergency response teams (required) and corner workers. So, $14K for the weekend?

We toured the inside track, and it has all the elements for a really good TT, except elevation changes (IMHO). If I recall, it's about a 2 to 2.4 mile lap. Really smooth surface throughout most of the course. I'm sure Tall Mike and others can tell you more than my experience driving it in a minivan.

$14K div. by 60 drivers runs around $233.33 per driver? Add in our PCA costs (Insurance, etc.) and it should be just a little more per driver than our other venues? I know there are other costs involved....

Now, I know things could change a lot in two years, and availability is really tough there. But wouldn't it be nice to try it once? With it's central location to 3 big "driver's" Regions in Zone 8 I'm fairly sure we could get 60 participants, IMHO.

Could be fun ..... 8)

Vegas and CS infield both great choices.

CS infield. I would go back for a couple of reasons.
It's closer than other tracks.
Nice facility.
Track itself does lack elevation or serious camber changes.
Still a nice place to practice left foot braking.
You'll be in 5th or top of 4th on the front straight.
Track does lack run offs, lots of K rails.
The 1st POC infield event sold out at 100 entered a month in advance.
They actually had bought a couple sessions from Redline?
Redline ran 1 or 2 sessions of their own both days.
POC is trying to get 2 or 3 infield dates in 2008.

The Vegas outside track sounds real fun too.
Maybe if we share with the Vegas PCA we can keep the entry closer to $300?

With tracks getting more expensive and less dates perhaps selling a session each day would help pay the rent? So we get 4 session instead of 6 on Saturday and save $100 on entry.
Also maximize track time and consider timing like they do it in POC. Best lap either day in your last 3 sessions. Can we continue to afford to waste Sunday afternoon track time with only 5 cars or so cars spread out on the track during timed runs?

The sessions were actually bought from Speed Ventures (Aaron Biterman) not redline.
