How do I get involved in the Autocross at the Q. I have no experience racing.

Start by reading the FAQ's posts about numbers and request a number. Then go to the "driving events" tab on the website and read everything including info in the links. Finally pick a date and either prereg (highly recommended if you don't own a helmet) or show up (early). Good idea to come out and watch before your first time just to get a feel for how things go. It is going to be pretty amazing on Wed at the parade AX, that would be fun to watch! Most important though is have fun and be safe.

The AX on Wednesday will be interesting due to the shear number of participants. To get a better feel for how SDR AX's run, come to the one this Saturday. I just started Autocrossing this year and I can say that this is a great club with awesome people. Come out and have fun.

You do have to be a member of PCA to run the events. If you are, show up around 7 AM at Qualcomm on Saturday. It is going to be a very low turnout with lots of laptime and instructors, so it would be a good first event. If you can't make it that early, just stop by and say hi and see what is going on so you will be ready for the next. There is also an event Friday if you want to watch that before trying it on Saturday.

Welcome!

This year the board relaxed the rules slightly and will allow non-members to drive their Porsches at an autocross.
They will not be allowed to pre-register however and may not be allowed to register if attendance is too high (as determined by the event chair). We would like them to join, but it is not a requirement. But they do have to enter a Porsche.

The other thing you should do is watch for the announcement for the next Performance Driving School put on by the club. The next one should be this Fall and it will transform your appreciation of your car! It is a great event with lots of seat time and various exercises to familiarize you with the limits of your Porsche. Welcome to the club.

Does this mean we can stop checking membership cards in Tech Inspection now? No one has passed the word on this new policy down to the tech crew, AFAIK.

No, continue to check cards. This is by event chair approval only. Therefore the individual needs to talk to an AX chair before they register. This can be done before the event either on line or by phone.
