July DE harness requirements

Postby elcap00 on Thu Jul 19, 2007 7:42 am

If I have a 5 point harness on the drivers seat--do I need a 5 point on the passenger? The rules say that 5 points are only necessary in prepared classes or higher. I will be in GS. While I should be OK there does not seem to be any clarification on drivers side restraint VS passenger side.

I need some help please. I do not want to get bounced because I didnt have matching harnesses.

Equivalent restraints are no longer required.

However, instructors are encouraged to have passenger harnesses (see VIII.4.).

If you are a student, equivalent restraints would show respect and consideration for your instructor.

If you don't need an instructor (have your TT license), it isn't an issue, you don't even need the seat, BUT many instructors will not get in a car with driver harnesses and none for the instructor

Being a DE at the Q in a n/a 944, more instructors are willing to instruct, but don't expect an instructor at Fontana or Willow without harnesses.
