Team Mirage to invade Daytona...

Our transporter left today for the PCA Club Race at Daytona International Speedway. Racing next Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We'll get to experience REAL banking...31 degrees and a 3.5 mile road couse. Lots of history there and hopefully we'll make some of our own  Updates next week!

Even loading ol' #444, we have to wait while passersby get their pictures taken in/near it
That car is a chick/kid magnet. Even if I blow a shift or 7...my sequential box is back and ready to be tossed in the car. WooHoo!!!

WOW!!! What a track! 31 degrees of banking is INSANE!!! What they don't tell you about the track is that it's as rough as a cob...think Holtville   at 155mph. The morning sessions you are actually looking up at the sun going thru the oval. During the pace lap during the sprint race, I looked up at the car gridded next to me and could only see his hand...everything above that was covered by my roof!!! He looked as tho he was going to slide down on top of me. Lots of fast cars from all over...some got a little banged up. We managed to keep everything together other than minor stuff.
I really have a new respect for NASCAR guys if they're going 3 wide around that oval...that's ALL you can fit in there...its about 1/2 the width of Fontana. I was pitted in Jeff Gordon's garage...fans wrote encouraging words to him on the window at the back of the garage. Great weather too!
