I love it when we all communicate. Expression on this forum helps to keep things in the open. Yeah, there have and always will be "clicks" and politics. That's a given in any organization, particularily volunteer groups, but I believe this group has more intergity than most-and has great ideas.
One suggestion that I wanted to make early on,(that may have been misinterpreted,) was perhaps consider adopting a policy that allows an instructor rotation, not instructing every 3rd or 4th event? I believe I have a good perspective, as I have done AX pre-reg. I see the student instructor pairings. There aren't enough instructors, period. If you want to drive and you instruct, you're generally called to service. If you don't instruct, we appreciate your constructive critism. I am not complaining and genuinely love doing all of these things. I personally enjoy the extra seat time and some of my most memorable experiences have been in the right seat! It would be a nice break for many of us to avoid burnout, maybe? I think our club has exceptional, enthusiastic and positive volunteers. They don't need a $.35 ribbon or a special dinner, but they earned it and they intend to enjoy it. We're just trying to keep the masses happy. I think we are. So let's move on and get ready to drive the next set of events for the rest of the year. After that, it'll be time for the real trash talk.
By the way, I'd like to think I volunteer a fair amount, but it will never hold a candle to the work the chairs and board members do. If you want to say thank you, offer to help them with some work at the next event. Walk in their shoes for a day. It will do you both some good.
