Equipment Chairs needed for 2008

Postby Kim Crosser on Mon Nov 26, 2007 5:28 pm

Jerry Mize has done an outstanding job as equipment chair for the past 4+ years, but he is ready to "seek other opportunities". Leigh Rayner has been assisting, but has decided he would like to be one of the Corner Working Chairs for 2008.

We are looking for a couple of people to step in as Equipment Chairs/Co-Chairs.

:!: ** NOTE ** You do NOT need to own a truck to be an Equipment Chair. In the past, we have rented trucks locally to haul the trailer to/from the stadium, and we can certainly do that in the future. If you do happen to have a truck capable of pulling the trailer, we can reimburse you for reasonable use costs.

If you are interested, please contact me or any of the 2008 Board. My phone # is 858-395-9372, and e-mail is Kim@theCrossers.net.

Ideally, you should live somewhat close to the stadium. Note also that the trailer can usually be pre-positioned at the stadium the evening before an event, instead of early that morning. Having two (or more!) co-chairs vastly simplifies the logistics of getting your car and the trailer to and from the event.

This is a very important role in the Club. Volunteers are eagerly encouraged to apply! :D

So Kim, has the response been, um... underwhelming thus far?

Is it true that the future of AX hangs in the balance ie: no trailer at the Q = no AX? Will Saturday be the last AX in the history of the SDR?

Come on AXers! There is always help with the loading and unloading but we have to get the trailer there.

We do have a new Equipment Chair. :D

Lorri Scheussler has stepped up as the new Equipment Chair for 2008.
Jerry Mize has agreed to help with the transition, and of course, you (Leigh) are still listed as the expert in getting loaded ... er, loading the trailer.

Howsomeever, we are committed to changing the way we do business with the trailer in 2008. Instead of the Equipment Chair being responsible for all the equipment (tracking, getting replacements, repairs, etc.) AND hauling the trailer to/from the Stadium, we will be organizing a group of "volunteers" who can take turns as the trailer haulers - generally using a rental truck, so people do not need a truck to help out.

So - folks - if you want to keep those Stadium events coming, we are looking for more volunteers who can occasionally tow the trailer to/from the Stadium. :burnout: Everybody, get in line - no pushing, please...

She is now the Goddess of the Trailer. God bless her. Stand in fear all who just stand around and drink beer and don't help load.

I am willing to assist with the towing part from time to time. I am sure I'm not alone in having frequent travel and work priorities that may interfere, but you can put me on the list and I will help out when I am able.

I do not have a tow vehicle, so I would be one that requires a rental.

What did I get myself into!?

Postby LaLa661 on Wed Dec 12, 2007 10:39 pm

I'm not sure how Kim duped me into this one...yikes!

Being one of the timing chairs up in OCR (and sometimes also stuffing registration envelopes until 1am the nite before an autocross, thanks mom and dad!) AND knowing how much time and effort goes into an autocross, I wanted to also do my part in SDR and help continue putting out really great autocrosses each month.

I just hope I can fill in the large shoes left by Jerry Mize, Leigh, and everyone else. Constructive criticism is always welcome -- emphasis on constructive, not criticism.

Proud because they conned me into helping them stuff envelopes for the OCR AX, or proud because I got suckered into being equipment chair? Ha Ha!

Anyhoo, count on me asking for volunteers - the most important job being for someone to save me a Stone Pale Ale for after the trailer is loaded. Yum!

ps, lala is a family name, glad you like it!
