is miramar the same thing as k1 karting?
cuz if so i believe when me and my dad went to k1, we were top time of the month :beerchug:

Hey Josh, K1 uses electric karts with an open diff, and Miramar uses i believe a 9 hp four stroke with a solid rear axle.

Yea there gas, I think they have more top end power than K1, just try to avoid bogging down on corner exit, The warehouse has a bunch of fans going to help with the exhaust gases.

Of course all the other types of water pumpers are welcome. Also, I would never want to turn away a Porsche owner. 911's are welcome. Their owners just might not find anything to talk about?

I use to think the weight thing was a big deal, but I don't any longer. If you get slowed down, you are dead, but no matter the driver, they are pure momentum vehicles and the heavier driver actually can carry a little more speed in the corners which he loses back on the straight. Overall, maybe a couple tenths per 100 lbs is my guess. The variation from kart to kart or day to day seems to be greater. I went to a track in Utah that posted all the record times based on weight class, every 20 lbs was another class as I recall, except for the 225+ crowd (who probably just didn't fit) ALL the records were within .15 seconds, and the lightest weren't the fastest :shock:

There is a kid named Shogo that drives there a LOT and weighs about 75 lbs, but is a very good, VERY experienced driver. Ask me how I know :banghead: :grr: :bigcry:

For the optimum lap, yes. Now when you race, with blocking, passing, and slower traffic, light weight kills and don't even talk about standing starts :cry: But still be more concerned about kart variations, than anything else. It is easy to be 1-1.5 seconds slower when you change karts, so don't worry, there are plenty of excuses, just not much (but a little) for weight in my opinion.

how long is the track? just wondering...
and im guessing because they are gas karts you have to wear suits, boots, gloves, and all that...? which differs from k1

Actually, it is the same as K1, closed toe shoes is the only requirement. Erik is right about the differences, but the average person wouldn't notice much difference between the two places. Both have pluses and minuses, so I don't know which I like better.

The track is pretty short. You need to wear closed toe shoes and a helmet, just like K1. The biggest difference is that the gas carts don't recover as quickly when they bog down, but they seem to go faster overall. Both are a lot of fun.

I agree w/Jad. Each cart has it's own personality. Some carts are just faster than others. It's a lot like driving the 944. Don't use the brakes any more than you have to and find the line. :lol:

Kart variation is by far the biggest factor I have found.
A few of us took our kids down last weekend and filled up two sessions after letting the kids do the Jr. driver school which I recommend highly.
(I think we could have rented the "Q" for the same price however)

My first kart felt very balanced and was pretty easy to drive, but the second kart had lots of oversteer due to used up rear tires. I had to work much harder to get a good time but it was just as much fun. And more closely mimicked my own driving style... :roll:
