Delrin bushings...

My 993 has over 105,000 miles on it and I'm sure the bushings are worn out. I would like to upgrade to the Weltmeister or ERP monoballs, but $1500 for the rear and $800 for the front is pretty steep. I have found a couple of places that will machine bushings out of Delrin for around $500 for both.

But I would use the ERP mono balls in the front and save the money up until you can do the rears.

Delrin is great for the early cars 911/944/914 but the design of the later suspension really calls for monoballs like the ERP kit.

I am guessing they have never done a set and are just giving you a "Quote".

If you go that route I would love to see them before and after installation.

BTW- Most aggressively tracked 946/993 cars destroy the front bushings in about 2 years. They are just poor little rubber units that can't handle big suspension and slicks. Put a pry bar between the a-arm and sub frame and watch the bushing cracks open up. Rears are much stronger, they just flex more than the ideal amount.

Those look like a huge improvement over stock for a great price. Still like to see how they hold up to the lateral loads but for the price that is totally worth a try.

Anybody have or know where I can find the specs for the front and rear bushings (993)? My plan is to do the fronts and see if I notice any difference and then do the rears. The one place in Alabama wants a drawing or a new bushing, and they charge $28 for the bushing and $15 aadditional if you want an inner sleeve in steel. They do alot of bushings for custom off-roading entities (Baja 1000, etc.) but have not done a set for a 993.

The local place in San Marcos said they would certainly beat that price. I don't mind being the front runner for us 993 guys, but would appreciate any help to keep me from having bushings made that won't fit. Trial and error gets expensive.

I spoke with Jae yesterday via phone and he said the ERPs do wear out, somewhere in the vicinity of 5 years at a SDR TT pace in terms of use. The Delrin might not be quite as good, and they will wear faster than the monoballs, but if I can get them for ~500 bucks total (vs. $2300) they may be a cost effective solution. As Steve G said, my bushings must be just GONE, so Delrin would probably help me a ton.

What is your definition of "entire"? Does it include items like aluminum uprights, tie-rods, droplinks, and/or sway bars? If so, I'll take it if 4est doesn't want it.

it includes Porsche factory shocks, dual springs, and monoballs for all four corners. Cannot touch that for 2300 and you get much more along with much better performance.

No thanks, need to sell as a package as people are not interested in pieces for these sorts of items.
