March 8 Autocross

Postby Laura on Sat Feb 23, 2008 11:54 am

Attention AXers!

The next autocross is Saturday, March 8. Send in your entry form by Tuesday, March 4 at midnight for the discounted $40 entry fee. You can find the form at: http://www.pcasdr.org/img/pdf/general/S ... t_Form.pdf

Otherwise, it’s a long queue at the trailer on Saturday morning and $60.

Please note:

• The deadline for AX pre-registration at the reduced $40.00 fee is ALWAYS the prior Tuesday at midnight, no matter whether the AX is on Saturday or Sunday.

• We had a lot of class-changing going on last AX. Please check the new rules and be sure you’re in the right class.

• We accept registrations for only one event at a time.

Thanks for getting those forms in before 3/4/08 midnight and have a great day at the track.

Silly question: is there any way to know if the pre-reg form got into the hands of the pre-reg team in time? Or should I just bring an extra $20 in case...

Great event, as always, thanks to the hard-working volunteers who make these events happen!

I'm not sure why, but I always do very well in the southeast lot, let's run all of the events out there! ;)

I also had a terrific time! Appreciate the friendly hello's and warm welcomes - made me feel right at home.

As for the AX itself - you folks run a very efficient event, and a FAST one! I've got a few suggestions for my AX chair back east. . .

In general, the West lot events are even faster than the SE lot. I guess you will just have to come back to visit again. :)

True.
I usually see about 100 mph (on the limiter in third gear, sometimes fourth is useful) somewhere on the west lot courses, depending on the layout.
I rarely see third gear on southeast lot courses.
Next time you visit, bring your friends!

I was having a great time, until my connecting rod decided to poke it's head out the side of the block and say hi to everybody. Thanks to Timmy's 924spec car I was able to make the timed runs.

1st time at an Autocross event.. I'm hooked!!

Postby UKAYMAN on Mon Mar 10, 2008 11:32 pm

Just wanted to thank everyone at PCA-SDR for organizing such a fun event. It was my first time experiencing an Autocross as a driver. I only purchased my Porsche back in December so i'm still new to all of this. I still can't wipe the grin off of my face, which was noted on many occasions by some of the guys at the start line!

In all though, from where I started the day and where I ended up, a big thank you must be said for my instructor. His realization after my initial practice lap that a long hard day lay ahead for him, I have to commend him for sticking with me, showing me the ropes, or should I say lines?? of an Autocross circuit. Mr Keith Verlaque.. "You da man!" 8)

See you all at the next one!!

Sorry to hear that Sean. I was asked why or how your car dumped oil ... I said I hope it's not something sticking out the engine block. Sorry to hear that's what it was. These things happen once in a while, thankfully not often. Good luck sorting it out, I'm sure you have some options about what to do now.

Keith is one of those people who is truly the spirit of the club. He is always looking out for safety and event quality, including keeping an eye on me to notice when I'm causing trouble.

Now about this "da man," Keith told me at the end of the day that I was this person, but you and the BRI indicate otherwise, so KEITH IS IT!

Probably why he is the Enthusiast of the Year. 8) ...again!

Ukayman: you were fortunate enough to spend the day with one of the best assets the Region has: Keith Verlaque. He has been responsible for more good in this club than several people combined, and has been an inspiration to driving and volunteerism since my wife and I joined the club in late 2000. Keith is one of those guys that you just can't say "thank you" enough to.

Now: if I could just understand what he's saying .....
