Then it probably shouldn't be listed on the web site:

I was planning on going but tires are gone and the trailer I was going to barrow is being used that weekend. 914s are only reliable for a 15 mile drives.

Ah, Jess. That's a load of BS. I'm not saying they don't break, because I can vouch that they do. But, I've driven and returned from many, many events. In the past 7 years I've only had to trailer home twice and if my car ever needed a ride, there was always someone there to help.

But, that also doesn't mean that you would be comfortable not knowing that you absolutely could drive home. I know that you need that comfort level to be there for you to do it.

If my bushing shows up in time, I will drive up and kick som OCR bootie. The CS delta works real well for us and I'd gladly wax some dolphin if that works out.

Copied the following from the PCA OCR forum:
Be there early and represent!

"Hey Sports Fans, just wanted to mention that we are extremely full for Sunday, March 16. Please be sure to cancel in the system by Thursday evening if you do not plan to come. We will issue no refunds for no shows. We currently have 120 people registered. We normally limit events to 110, this one is a little more full because of our "David & Goliath" challenge with San Diego.

Any attrition caused by no-shows will NOT be filled by "walk-ons". Sorry.

To ensure that we have as much time as possible to DRIVE, here's the schedule for the morning:

6:30 Gates and Tech open
7:45 Track Walk
8:00 Tech closes (cars not in line = drivers out of luck)
8:20 Drivers meeting & Instructor aAssignments
8:50 Course workers go to assigned places
9:00 First car out

If you have not already pre-paid, please do so ASAP. If you have a credit coming to you because you instructed at our recent Drivers Clinic, please be sure to send an email to me to that effect (send to autoxreg@gmail.com). We can accept cash or checks at the event, but we cannot accept credit cards at the event.

Be sure to review the posting further down in this forum titled "Must Do's Before Your Autocross Event" to be sure you and your car are ready for a full day of fun.

See you there!

Well, it was an interesting day up at El Toro:

* The track was very interesting, tight with quite a few hairpin turns and a very interesting high speed slalom. This was not a rear engineed track but more biased toward Mid engine cars, I would think. I will post some video soon.

*We didn t complete the timed runs due to the timing sytem having gone down and then after going to the backup system (Stop watches), a storm move din and lightning could be seen.

* I believe we would have done well. Bill I did his timed runs and I think he got a 1:26 or so.
My first timed run was a high 1:27 (based on a stop watch) and that would have put me at top of teh NS class and probably in a good BRI spot.
*Tami was running 1:27s or 1:28 as well.

Not sure what Dave, Ron or Jackie were running.

I guess we will have to do this again.

Jackie was running 1:30's in timed runs in GP and I was running 1:32 in practice, which is close to what Jackie ran in practice. I think that SDR would have done well in BRI. The best time I heard for the day was a 1:25xx. Someone may have done better, but that's the fastest time I heard of.

The track was fast and technical. It seemed to get faster throughout the day. The last two run groups didn't get to run at all at the end. Guess we'll have to settle this at a later date. :)

Hi Gang!

Looks like a "rematch" will be in the making. SDR was at El Toro in force!

I want to thank everyone who came up for the David & Goliath challenge. :D

We met "for a beer or two" after the event and discussed the problems:

-We had a major failure in part of the wireless timing equipment in the middle of the timed runs.(Not a part you usually have a spare) Usually the course is set up so we can use the hard wire system. So a learning experience.

-5 stop watches and away we went. Then as the thunderheads rolled in our safety stewart called the event with two groups still to be timed. Lightening was within two or three miles. Nothing is worth someone getting injured.

-We also think that it might be better both in SDR and OCR to hold the D & G other than a Zone 8 event as it we capped the attendance at 120 and turned a number of local drivers away.

Thanks again to Bob and Lisa! I was driving the Team Schuessler "Gulf" car. That Kinninger guy can sure build a car. Been a few years since I owned my 69 and 73 911. What fun!

I kept having to remind myself...............
NO ABS....NO ABS....NO ABS.....

I blamed the flat spots on the tires on Curt Yaws

Talk about show up at a gun fight with a knife!
Curt shows up with a Prius

Lets us know when and OCR will come down to SDR TURF!

JUST fyi - we had you
..............."unofficially" of course

Have Fun! Steve

Steve, great job yesterday considering the amount of drivers.

Agree on having this match not be a Z8 event :)

Being part of the timing team in Sd, I was very curious about the wireless setup in OC. However after looking at how a single point of failure caused so much delay, I think we will stick to our wires :)

Great job guys. Things happen and you can't beat Mother Nature. I had a good time.
I think if Morgans times had counted we would have been right up there. He had a 1.31 and change on one of his time runs. I think that might have been pretty good on the BRI.
