November 7 Rennlist/Pelican/PCA drive..

Postby TheStig on Tue Oct 05, 2004 10:34 pm

Hi Everyone,

I just re-registered my name to the board because I couldn't gain access to my old screen name....

Anyways; I have been planning a meet and cruise on the Rennlist board for Sunday, November 7. I was wondering if anyone would like to join some of the members of Rennlist and me on a drive through the backroads of Julian. More info down below:

Date: Nov. 7 2004
Time: Meet at 8:30am
Location: Gordon Biersch Parking lot, Mission Valley
Leaving Time: 9am-9:15am depending on traffic from the Rennlisters up North.

I have done a count and so far I believe about 10 people have confirmed they will be going on Rennlist. If any of you are interested, please send me a private message and/or email me at thestig944@cox.net

I hope to see more Porsches soon. See ya on the board you guys!

EDIT: THE NOVEMBER 7 DRIVE THROUGH THE BACKROADS HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO SUNDAY NOVEMBER 14 DUE TO RAIN AND POSSIBILITY OF SNOW IN JULIAN. PLEASE UPDATE YOUR SCHEDULE AND LEAVE A REPLY ON THIS THREAD IF YOU ARE STILL INTERESTED. SORRY FOR THE INCONVIENCE AND WEATHER ISSUE

It was really nice meeting those of you who I talked to about the meet at the breakfast this morning and am very anxious to see anyone come along to the drive.

This is my very first time setting this up so I am not sure if I"m doing it right, it seems like it though; heh heh...

anyways the drive again is November 7th and we meet at 8:30 AM in the Gordon Biersch parking lot in Mission Valley, I will post mapquest up for those who don't know how to get there.

Again I hope everyone had fun at Speedfest! Kudos to you all!!!

Hi guys,

Here's an update on the meet. I did an attendence check between Rennlist and PCASD and so far, we are about 25 cars strong. I am hoping some more people would like to come since it would be nice to get some pictures of us in the back roads. We are also planning to record our footage and combine it into a video after the event. We are little more than 1 week away from the meet so it's not too late to RSVP!

Sounds great! Have you decided on a route yet? Or keeping it hush-hush so as not to alert the Fuzz?

I sushinav,

Yes I did. The route is gonna be to take 8 to 67 north and start through the backroads of ramona there. We can stop to take pictures on the way too. When we get to julian we can pickup some apple pie and take more pix....then we drive through Cuyamaca and Descanso and back on the 8 going west for some food and drinks at Rock Bottom. My father will be leading the pack through Ramona.

Please call me at 619-934-6466 to RSVP for the meet so I can get an exact count of the additional people attending.

Thank you

"Stop to take pictures"?!?! I thought this was a Porsche drive? Sounds more like it might be a bunch of Civic's and Corola's...

Civics and Corollas? You must joking... Mike you and I are both on Rennlist and I'm sure you have also seen that people stop and take pictures on their meets from that board. Which is why I'm saying we can do the same thing. I'm sure people would like to take some for memoirs, souvenirs, or even for their computer's desktop. This is also by invite only.

Rss I greatly appreciate your update on your attendence. It'd be great to see you come along with us.

I hope I am doing a good job at this....this is my first event I'm setting up and it's been difficult lately to promote and invite other PCA members and folks with Porsches due to my busy schedule. 13 hour days which include night school and study time along with my work has been kind of tight lately on me. However, I feel that I am doing a pretty good job on regulation and the promotion of this meet and hope that everyone has a great time as well as meet new people, and learn more things about their cars.

Yeah, I am on Rennlist, but I haven't really kept up with the thread. As I said in my RSVP I may or may not be able to make it. That still holds true.

I was just messing with ya. But on the serious side, when I go out to drive my Boxster, I'm out there to drive my Boxster. I've only been to a couple PCA Tours and the only stopping we did was to wait for the slower cars (you know the older 911's, 914's, and 944's ;)). Other than that we are driving. Isn't that the point of a "drive"?

hahaa good point Mike! Hopefully you won't slow down to wait up for me since I"ll be in front of the pack, probably my dad way ahead with the 928 S4 since he'll be leading us to Julian through Ramona since I don't know the route to Julian through Ramona. The roads are fantastic through there. I'll probably lead on the way back through Cuyamaca and Descanso if I don't get passed up by the rest of the line :o

If I can get my boss to go, we will throw 2 930's into the fray. And if he does not go, 1 930. :beerchug:
