Qualcomm DE - May 31

Postby ChuckS on Mon May 19, 2008 9:03 pm

The DE at the Q is ON again!

It is a long story, so it will not be told here, but we have the entire West Lot for our DE again.
As there are not a lot of available second half of the year dates, this might be our only one.

Please pass the word to anyone who might want to attend including members from other regions.

Pre register as soon as possible to alleviate any concern by our board that not enough people will know about this event.

You can use the AX/DE registration form....it has a drop down for the May 31st DE. Please fax it in soon.

We have also invited the OCR drivers.

And, special for all those Stock class drivers with Hoosiers, no extra charge! Dan's sponsor, Ballast Point, is providing free beer and Firestone RV tires for anyone competing in Dan's class! (Just kidding, Dan.)

This is your day to use up all those old tires you couldn't give away! Hope to see you there.

 Hee Hee, actually, Bridgestone offered their all-terrain mud and snow tires for this event. They must have seen the condition of the asphalt at Qualcomm.

Way to go, guys!! I was hoping to exercise the new front struts from Mirage. This ought to help plenty. Wooppeee, we have a DE!!

And, not to usurp the Chairs, but come on volunteers! We need help setting up and breaking down equipment and track. Come help us out!

Well, 3 minutes after I saw this I had the form made out ready to fax, but I can't find ANYWHERE on the club site one cruical piece of info....
How much does it cost?
Ps: I've got the P155/13 tractor tires mounted and balanced ready to go, with rancid coolant smeared on them....

I believe it's $80.00 for a DE without the double-header discount of an AX/DE combo. Bank for $80.00, and if it's less, you're happy.

In the drop-down box of the Pre-payment form, the May 31 DE entry currently shows $60 as the cost.

It's our lucky day, Lucky Dave. Price is $60 to all drivers, until we get tired of waiting, and then it goes to $80. Get your registration in early. Pre-Reg (Janet) tells me the cut-off for cheap driving is midnight on Tuesday, May 27th. Registrations received after that time will cost you $80, still the best bargain in San Diego.
And Dan, thanks for the volunteer plug. These fun only, no timing DE events need the same help with tech, track set-up and take-down, and after event excuse making. Get there early and set up a few cones of your own where you won't hit them.

DE!

Postby Jackie C on Tue May 20, 2008 10:24 am

I'm bringing down 3 different sets of tires to run at the DE and making my own comparison study! See you there. Thanks to Curt and Chuck for making this happen. No doubt it took some real negotiation to get that date back on the calendar.

I'm going to be comparing Mickey Tompson drag slicks vs Goodrich Offroad T/A's vs "R" compound Caterpillar tracks. I'm still looking for rims to fit the tracks......anyone got any?
