The return to Buttonwillow last weekend had all the same elements. Fear ... that Carl would kick my b*tt in my own car, excitement ... having waited all year with a car set-up I'd worked on all year, anticipation ... of driving one of my favorite big tracks and for the first time and not pointing by every single car in my run group.
My expectations were all met and happily exceeded. The surface was beautiful. The car ran flawlessly. Carl hit the brakes just before the checkered flag and bought me a tenth of a second (thanks,
Carl), the old friends from big track days past were there and still remembered who the tall bald guy was. Huge credit and thanks to Robert B. and Jack M. for a perfectly run event (as always). Thanks to Steve G. for showing me the "little wire" trick. Couldn't have started without that.
Now .... where'd I leave that muffler?
