Great video. Unfortunately, it also shows you passing the Cup car under yellow - shouldn't you have given the position back?

Selfishly, I think he should have given up four positions. Is that too much to ask?

Remember, my car still has cup holders, I was playing the latest Offspring CD during the race, and that full leather dash is really heavy.

:-)

Thanks. I am still playing with different video formats to upload to YouTube. This one was uploaded as Divx, but I read that the best results are achieved using H.264.

I didn't have the choice as the 944vette ran into the rear of the almost spinning Cup Car and stopped. Racing incident  ??.

Competing on my worn Toyo RA/1's against higher horse power cars on Hoosiers and fresh slicks was a battle, but a lot of fun. :D

Interesting.
Contact in your first race is proably not a good thing.
Wonder what teh comp committee view was?
From the video looks like the cup car lost it and ended up in front of the 944Vette as he was trying to pass him on the inside.

I am a little surprised myself that the committee didn't bring it up during impound or the meeting as the Cup car had a cracked bumper and broken rear light.

The 944vette had insane power and was impossible to pass on a straight line. In 2, 3, 4 and 9 were I was able to get close enough to attempt a pass, he made himself wide or closed the door. (I cut the first part of the video, as the first 8-9 laps were just that)

It's difficult to tell who is at fault, but from my point of view the 944vette could have stopped instead of trying to squeeze by the loose Cup car plus there were Yellow flags in turn 4 and 5.

While avoiding them, I said "Thank you Gentlemen :roflmao:"

Remember, it is the driver's responsibility, not the committee's, to bring forward the issue of contact, etc.

In this case, although I am not sure who raised the issue, I did hear Tony G. (red 944Vette) discussing the contact with Jim Marks (clinic instructor) while holding his video camera, so it appears the committee was notified.

The Comp Commitee was all over the incident being discussed here and made a prelininary call at the track, but ultimately, any penalties assessed are "awarded" in private after all video is collected and all the comp commitee weighs in...
That will happen soon, I understand (and IMO, there will be a penalty).

You guys may know this already: a "logbook notation" was the penalty. One more of those in 12 months to the same person = a 13/13.

I was there renting a car for the weekend. The POC is a great club. I watched the Blue school group from the grand stands in turn 1. My impression was that the San Diego drivers showed very well. We grow good drivers here. We have this big parking lot that is fantastic for teaching drivers how to control their cars at slower speeds and that builds a solid foundation for driving well at higher speeds.
Martin raced very well. He also drove well. Clearly, a standout and one of my first choices for building a great enduro team. Jad, please DO get your license, too!
I would not have tried to pass the yellow Cup car while it was still sliding. That's a high risk move because you don't know where he'll end up going! Even if you've learned how to "read" the various types of models and how they spin out, including adding in the variable of going uphill or downhill, I wouldn't do it. Better to stay in the race and attack later in a lower risk situation.
I felt bad about the contact, but no organization is immune from contact. It happens and I've seen minor and major contacts in every group I've raced with proportional to their number of drivers and races.

You guys all did a good job of showing the POC that we grow good drivers here in San Diego.

Great Video!
Also, congrats on the great driving. :burnout:
Too bad you weren't closer to TNT. I had a real close view, but would love to see it on video.
Will you post any more of the race, or is that it? I would like to see any more you have of between the first and second.

Thanks for posting it! :D :beerchug:

Chuck,

I did not plan on posting the rest of the video, but certainly can extract a bit more. I will create a clip of the section that interests you :D and send you the link. It may be a few days.
