When I initially proposed the "Day Away from Work" series six years ago, the Board thought I was crazy but the response has been overwhelmingly successful after only two or three events of getting it fine tuned.

So I suggest that you will likely be pleasantly surprised. Also remember that, as a Zone 8 event. you have additional motivation from far-flung drivers.

So. my vote -- I'll be there!!

i recently completed the POC Short Track series @ SOW and Fontana.
I'd go back, but TTs are beckoning also.

cheers

Craig,

I highly encourage you to sign up for the TT series. Jack and Robert put on a great event, are very organized, it's highly competitive and most of all is a lot of fun!!

Thank you for your post as it illustates the perceived void in the progression steps to go from autocross to time trials and eventually to club racing. You went to another club to gain experience in big track events. What Carl, Martin and myself would like to see is the membership stay "in-house" and become seasoned as they progress and go to TT and perhaps beyond.

In addition to meeting the demands of those that want to move up through the ranks, we'd also like to see those that already TT and club race use the DE setting for test and tune days, especially if they are stategically placed on the calender between events. This type of all encompassing event will give those newer to track events a good sense of what it's like to compete at a higher level and provide individuals with a wealth of information from those that have done this for years.

This seems to make sense to me.
I understand and approve of the ethos to grow within the club.
I hope i continue to do so.

My primary initial goal is to safely drive a TT @ Laguna Seca this year. That is the primary reason why I went to POC for short track.
They, understandably, require a driver to go through short track prior to their TT event @ LS.

I am signed up for WSIR and SOW TT at the end of the month.
The only previous PCA TT i did was a positive experience, having Jad Duncan as my instructor certainly helped.

I am interested in doing DE's with PCA @ venues other than J Murphy stadium.

best wishes

Craig

PS, i've had good times @ SOW with GPX also, a Day Away indeed!

Sounds great! I'm in. If the June-Gloom is deep enough, we might get cool temps and an on-shore breeze to keep us comfy. Otherwise, we'll have to sit in Steve G.'s "SG" with the cool-blowing air-con.

I was there in June last year with Speed Ventures. It was 104 degrees. We had a garage and that made it bearable. :D

My 911SG is an AX car, no roll bar so no big track work... besides that's my daily driver.
I have two words for you Dan....Cool Suit!

Wait -- wasn't it Dan who was shopping for AC upgrade not so very long ago? So a few extra pounds and about 2HP drag won't hurt...
