Need info/pic

Postby gulf911 on Wed Jan 28, 2009 5:31 pm

Anybody have a close pic of the tires used for timed in the orange GT3RS car running in QS from the ax? Or perhaps know first hand what they were? Not accusing anybody, just need the info.
Thanks,

You can probably download the high resolution images and blow them up.

Cheating is fine and no one cares, until you start winning

It is normally so Jad but frankly and more seriously cheating should not be tolerated in our club and should be denounced. We rely on an "honor code" and we should discourage any attempt to ignore the rules we all have to abide by. If honesty is not enforced and the cheaters are allowed to prevail then winning will have no meaning any more. This will discourage honest drivers and lead to the disintegration of our competition program. I have been monitoring another driver who has not been living by the rules and will first try to work with him privately to come clean but if that effort fails will bring his case to this forum in order to hopefully discourage that dishonest behavior by making it public.

I don't think anyone is being accused of cheating  , just a large drop in times during timed runs. The Hoosier A6 (DOT) tires are legal in stock class, even though very sticky and fast and cost 4 points.

Understood Greg and you are absolutely correct about the driver on this caption provided his other modifications did not get him over his 8-point allowance. Not sure how the point system applies to the GT3-RS. Anyway, I was more importantly reacting to Jad's comment about cheating in general which we should as a club very strongly discourage.

I have observed a couple suspects cheaters too (in PCA and POC), but as long as they are not in my class and are slower than me I don't care. Cheating and still losing must be very embarrassing for them !!! :roflmao:

There are cheats per example in stock classes like limited slip, chips, revalve shocks, lightweight flywheel etc which nobody would ever know and could give an 2-4 seconds advantage.

But, it's gentlemen racing and as Otto says it should be based on the honor system.

Interesting point, a fully adjustable lighter, faster GT3 which is basically a street legal Cup car on Hoosiers

Sometimes it's unclear if you're legal or not. In my case the question is re "dual mode adjustable shocks". What does it mean? Everyone I've asked (including Tom and Steve) has given me a different answer. Should I run in KS? KP?
Well anyway, yesterday I removed the rear JIC Cross dampers to access the adjusters (need more rebound damping) and guess what?
NO ADJUSTERS OF ANY KIND! :banghead:
I guess that answers my question.........

Oh that's right I forgot about your car Mr. Dave :D As you know, I think your car in KS is very suspect. But maybe the rules give you an advantage similar to the GT3RS being in a stock class.

Now that I'm sure I don'e have illegal shocks,
Tire compound (888's) 2 points
Tire size (275) 2 points
Spring rate (not telling 8) ) 2 points
Camber plates 2 points
LEGAL chip (ask Steve, he specified the part number) 0 points
total 8 points

Martin, the car is legally in KS. If you want to make the case that the rules are extra nice to my particular car.....you won't get any argument from me.......... :D

Do you mean Whining??

Actually I started the thread because I thought it was a new rule regarding Slicks in S class and just wanted to verify. It was suspect enough having an SCCA nationals driver show up. :banghead:
