Trailer rental!

Attention TT and DE drivers:

As you may or may not know I have been using a very nice silver colored dual axle trailer for quite some time to tow customer cars to our Zone 8 Time trials. This is a rental trailer owned by PCA member Lewis Wise. Before I started using this trailer it was used by Jad Duncan to tow his black 944 Turbo so it has been unavailable for SDR TT events for quite some time.

I will be towing a new car and trailer to all our future events so this beautiful trailer will be available to SDR TT series drivers once again. This is the nicest open single car trailer you will find and I would rather see it get used by one of our group than some other less deserving individuals.

Why this is the nicest trailer is really a two part answer; one is the owner and the other is the trailer.

Owner: Lewis is not a nameless faceless rental yard with late fees assessed at 6:01pm with ultra rigid pick up and delivery requirements. Basically he’s a nice, easy going guy with reasonable rates on a really sweet trailer.

Trailer: This is a fully galvanized custom Aros brand 21ft long dual axle/electric brake trailer with 16ft deck.
Bonus Features:
The loading ramps are extra long and pull out the back of the trailer like a drawer. Once at full length they lock in place and can’t be detached from the trailer without knowing the special trick. This is very important safety feature if you have ever seen someone spit a ramp out the back while loading up and end up hanging off the back of the trailer. I have loaded early 911’s with a super low front spoiler and splitter and still had plenty of room. Another nice feature is the locking pins for these are tethered to the trailer so scatter brains like me don’t waste 30-minutes looking for a lost pin before hitting the road!

Service rack on wheels! – Since the deck is open you can drive the car up on the trailer and have full access to the under carriage. This is a great to make suspension sway bar adjustments or any other checks where you need the car up but on the weight of the wheels. This open deck also makes tie down attachment a breeze.

The suspension is torsion bar type (like real Porsche’s  ) so it is lower to the ground making loading easier and driving more stable.

The tire rack –(my favorite part) this tire rack runs the full width of the front of the trailer and is just high enough to clear the front of the car making loading and unloading much easier from the ground for us old guys with questionable back integrity. The locking bar that runs through the center of the wheels is the key to this unit. Each end floats in height so you can stack super short tires on one end and super tall tires on the other and the bar still flexes enough to handle it. I have had 225-15’s and 295-18’s on the rack together with no issues. The bar locks with a pad lock so you are about 30-seconds from inserting a key to having a tire on the ground. And yes the end plate is tethered to the trailer.

Bike rack-There is a bike rack attached to each end of the tire rack. So you can load two bikes up for those stealth runs around the pits to spy on your competition.

Storage box- This is a lighted (to find the stuff when you get to the track late) aluminum locking box filled with boxes and bins containing tie downs and hooks and wheel straps. There is a pair of gloves to protect your delicate gentleman racer hands as well as a lock and cable to secure the trailer and/or tires when you leave the track at night and head back to the motel if needed. There are also wood blocks and tongue jack caster for pushing the trailer around if needed.

There are several keys to the trailer locks that might be confusing to figure out if they weren’t color coded to the matching locks… (Are you getting a feel for how well sorted this rig is? Some may call it a sickness; I prefer to think of it as excellent planning)

Here is a picture of the trailer with me loading up Greg Phillips 928 at Button Willow. Notice the length of the ramps, the tire rack, aluminum box and location of the spare. Whether a 928 or 997 this trailer tows great. You just shift the car forward or back a few inches.

For more information (as if there could be) and rental schedule or pricing contact Lewis via email and he will let you know if there are any dates open. Fontana is coming up and Spring Mountain is a long way from home!

No I am not getting a sales commission; just don’t want to see such a nice rig go unused because it has always been unavailable for SDR TT events.

I've used his trailer before, super nice guy. The service rack thing is fantastic.
