Wow! What a feather in our cap if we can pull this off. I'm in no matter what. I like Martin's split sessions idea. Don Auten, Jim Binford and Martin Lipp have spent considerable time and effort behind the scenes with no guarantee that we would be able to secure this venue. Historic opportunity. We've got time to spread the word to our members too. Tell your friends...

Go to the Fleet Week site for general info on the event.
http://www.fleetweeksandiego.org/

It looks to me that the $195 with 20 minute sessions are most desirable.
BTW, here is the track map from last year.

The track map will be the same for this year.

5th gear for the 914 on the front straight.

John,

Since you've run at North Island before, can you give us a little info on how abrasive the tarmac is and how much tire temps go up?

Thanks.

I'll chime in with the rest and go with 20 min. sessions. Thanks Martin & Jim, if you pull this off we owe you :beerchug:

it's a combination of asphalt and concrete, not too abrasive. My tire pressures usually grow about 2lbs. for a 15 lap session.

Thanks to all of you who are trying to make this an event. I'm in with whatever works. Will Porsches get priority registration? 8)

Yo John: How long does a 15-lap session run? Or, how long does it take to complete one lap in your 914-GT? Just curious as to how many laps a 15 or 20 minute session would grant.

Dan...as soon as I get back from the Parade, I'll look at my lapping charts and post it.

Sorry, buy I don't remember...but the faster guys were doing more laps than me.

The track is 1.6 miles. It is 1/10th longer than Fontana infield.

PCA will know about this earlier just by watching the forum, but we can't have priority registration. The Coronado Fleet Week people want it open to local clubs that participate in the Corral. I guess that would be a good reason to register early if the board OKs the event.
