To all participants of the Coronado DE,

Thanks so much for your participation in PCA's first ever DE held in conjunction with the Coronado Speed Fest. Now we want to solicit your feedback. Should we do it again? Would you come back for a similar event next year? How can we make it better? Thanks in advance for your suggestions,

The DE Team: Martin, Peter, Carl

Martin, I'll try to keep this brief for you as you tend to glaze over with any content that exceeds 2 sentences.... but we need to clarify that we cannot change the track configuration or where the walls are placed.

It seemed pretty clear that if an extra K-rail was taken out of track out on turn 4, it would have made it must more enjoyable. The bolted together tire walls in the bus stop would not have been my first choice, but once again, HMSA sets these up and we have no say over them.

I have heard a rumor that Martin still has a Porsche somewhere.

Maybe he will be able to drive it at next year's DE, if he really has one.

I'd run it again in a heartbeat.
Hell, every other weekend would be perfect, I'd think about selling my boat! (NOT!) but you get the idea.
Yeah, moving some of the walls would be preferable, but it is what it is. Remember, the throttle moves both ways!

I would 200% do it again, any time. I had a great time. It would be awesome if we could to a TT that weekend. What if we did a Thursday practice day and a two lap time trial on Sat or Sun? Or...just keep it the way it was? :beerchug:

Yes. Lets do it again already. Next time I am definitely reeling in that 944 chick. :P The walls at 4 and tire stacks added a little spook factor but I get the "just don't hit stuff" concept. Turn 4, slow in, late apex, fast out. Easy peasy.
Suggestions? The only thing that was a little weird was the base access "dance" we did prior to the event. Hey it's the military. No such thing as simple and straightforward right? It seemed a bit unclear what we needed, when and where but I know you guys did your very best and it all worked out. All in all an outstanding event.

Next week, next month, next year, YES. Great event, great track and kudos to your team for jumping through the massive number of hoops to make this happen. The track is dangerous and will bite you in the a$$ if you push it too hard or make a mistake. I was flying through the tire wall at the end of the day compared to the first few sessions and there was probably another 2 to 4/10's in that section, but the risk/reward seemed a little skewed toward the risk side for me. I noticed that the vintage cars went through there the slowest. More to lose? Keep up the great work and lets try to do this again. :beerchug:

The only way to get a long green line in a spec car is getting rear ended. :burnout:

Sean...I like that. :)

Now you guys know why the Vintage Races keep coming back...it's kind of like running the old Sebring Race Course.

I know PCASDR has no control over it, but a wish list:

Turn #4 K-rail needs to be replaced with something softer than cement. Pretty much just get rid of all the K-rail except for what protects the spectators and hot-pits.

I have a real dislike for tire walls/Legos that serve as chicanes. I know the idea was to slow people down and keep them out of the K-rail (which should be cones). There is quite a bit of runoff room before you drive into the bay.

Parking was a bit of a cluster... but now we know.

Thanks for sharing the DE with non-PCA, we REALLY had a lot of fun. Hopefully my Falcon will be done in time for CSF '10.

On last point, I can't help but think of the possibilities PCASDR would have if we could have the Parade there. Room for Auto-X, heck even room for a Club Race.

I agree with all of the above. We have no control or choice in the matter(s) :banghead:

Not to put a damper on things, BUT;
for $200 I'd rather do Fontana for a weekday than do it again. Lots of fun, but I'm over it.

Perhaps the response was so good, we could lower the price next year?
