In fact, it wasnt until I started towing (boats, cars, etc.) that I developed a respect for the semis and other big rigs and their right to space.

Ditto! It always annoyed me that they (Truckers, RVers, etc) would drive in the second to last lane. Now I understand why, and find myself doing it frequently.

Now that most of us have driven big heavy rigs, is anyone else totally amazed that there are not a LOT more accidents from 80 year old retirees driving giant motorhomes? I was very nervous when I had to drive one, yet half the retirees in AZ drive them around safely all the time. Who'd figure :?:

Anyways...
I also have a family member, but non-PCA member interested in bringing his WRX and driving. Is this allowed as my guest, or PCA only?

Truck Driving/Motorhome Driver Training

Postby Duram on Tue Nov 23, 2004 8:16 pm

Driving a heavy truck or a motorhome safely is directly related to how well trained the driver is.

I would expect that most people pulling a trailer or driving a large motorhome for the first time have had no formal training. Since both require no special license in the US.

Some of the expensive motorhomes include driver training for the buyers.

PCA members and affiliate members only is what the rules say.

Just to get the topic back on track...

The other car AX is limited to PCA members and their affiliate members.

One person = One car. It is OK for a member to drive his affiliate's car, and visa versa. The car must have a valid tech sticker.

All the normal AX rules apply. If a driver has not had at least 4 Autocrosses they will be assigned an instructor.

Car must pass tech(brakes, tires, seat belts, etc...) If you have any questions concerning a particular vehicle get in touch with the tech chair or the ax chairs before the event. Don't assume you can run anything. Trucks and SUV's are strongly discouraged( except for Porsches) . Karts and motorcycles are not allowed.

Sushinav,

You might be able to put your friends name on your membership as your affiliate. It would probably have to remain there for the year. Give them a call 703-451-9000, couldn't hurt!
