Congratulations - SDR Concours

Postby Michael Dolphin on Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:41 am

This past Saturday was a perfect day for a Concours d' Elegance -- especially one that was totally comprised of Porsches. The display included FIVE gorgeous 930 Turbos in one place. I don't recall that many 930s on display at any Concours over many past years.

Great job, SDR team.

But I'd also like to appreciate and acknowledge the hard work and tremendous effort of event chair Steve Lopez and his entire family. Maria, Anise and Araceli worked their butts off with other SDR members as well. John, Monique, Skip, Leslie, Michael H., Dave, Bev and Tom Gould, (and of course, someone I've forgotten to mention) did great jobs in helping make the day smooth and orderly.

As well, a few first-time participants took home really nice trophies. Most importantly, some of those first-timers felt good enough about the experience to want to do it again - even after I found that flaw in a multi-thousand dollar paint job that is sending the car back for partial refund!

Importantly, another group of new members is enjoying the club camaraderie and experience.

One incredible car there was truly unique. Unique because it is the only replica of the very first 356. I dont know who owns it but the detail was unbelievable. Hats off to whomever had the patience to pull this off.

That replicar of Porsche #1 will soon be available -- along with a very nice 904 replica..

Richard is correct. This car was very, very detailed -- as far as I could tell. So few of us have actually had a REAL close up.

John S., I appreciate the compliment and I definitely enjoyed showing my RS60 Spyder in the W&S Division and getting a Ist Place in W&S-5 was icing on the cake for me. Looking forward to next years event. :D Rich Fatuzzo
