Qualcomm West Lot Repair - Sat. the 28th

Postby Bill Behun on Mon Nov 09, 2009 2:50 pm

The stadium verified the car clubs can repair the west lot like we did last year. :D

We will gather at the stadium at 8 AM.
The Corwin's will have a concrete mixer (Jackie offerred at tha AX - I'll verify tonight) that they will bring.

The "hardest" part and the most time consuming is clearing/cleaning/prepping the holes. Bring shovels and brooms. If you have a strong blower that is great too.

We'll clean the holes real well (and remove bad pavement and prep the area), apply concrete "glue" and then pour the concrete.

I need to get an idea of how many follks may be able to make it. Please respond here and/or email me at behun@cox.net / or call me at 619-417-2124.

If we have about 12 - 15 of us that could work well. Should only take us 3 hours, maybe less.

Martin Lipp has oifferred his truck/trailer to obtain the concrete bags.
Some of us will need to meet earlier to buy/load bags at Lowe's on Martin's trailer.
I'll bring my trailer too for getting bags. I'll get bags at Home Depot earlier and have Home Depot load it.

I think with the Corwin's mixer, that will work best vs. renting a pre-loaded mixer/picking it up, returning it. etc. If some folks have wheel barrows too bring them. I'll be coordinating with the Corwin's more on this.

Let me know when you can. Thanks.

I know I can make it and I think Monique can also, but I better not speak for her.

John, why not? I always speak for Phil. Even volunteered his cement mixer... (It's a miracle he's still married to me) We're in.

My (fast right away.....I got out after first practice) student from last Sunday (Roger Long) said he also owns a cement mixer. I'm guessing he'll be there???

Martin - you crack me up.

When we set dates for the year with the stadium I mentioned to the stadium my wife called a TV station last year and they came out. The stadium said "DON'T DO THAT" for fear some union would see it and complain to the city that it's a union job and what the hell is going on!"

Instead of saying thank you for fixing the pavement, we get into trouble. This just proves that no good deed goes unpunished.

Rick Sylvestri may be able to make it with his construction truck and hyraulic dumper.
He'll know later if he can make it.
If he can - cool! .... no need to shovel off all the asphalt chunks from Martin's trailer like we did last year. :D

I also have a back-pack blower, buckets, shovels, brooms and wheel barrow. The last time we really needed more than one blower, just in case somebody has one. How many bags of cement are we planning for this time?

Martin - I haven't done the calcs yet on how many bags but the Corwins will bring many 100# bags. If Rick can do it he'll be able to bring bags.
Do you recall how many we did last year?

I think we did at least 80; I know I did 3 trips (20 bags) to Lowe's and somebody else did at least one. If we have a budget, we should just do the math and get all of the bags first thing. Last time we we had to go back many times and it cost us efficiency. Not very German of us :roflmao:

Pumpkin squares? I'm already feeling bad enough about having to be out of town that weekend. I thought missing out on Bill and Martin chucking asphalt chunks was bad enough. Now, I have to deal with missing out on the pumpkin squares. You're rubbing salt in the wound

Save a chunk and a square for me :(
