I vividly remember my first TT with PCA, which was last Feb. in Buttonwillow. As I was waiting my turn, I was so nervous and so full of anticipation. The adenalin was flowing and I was very READY. At the time, I thought this was all a function of my inexperience and not having participated in this type of format before.
Now, fast forward to today, after 30 more track days and 5 more similar TTs and what a surprise, I'm still feeling the same way!!
Am I the only one who feels a unique adenalin rush and anticipation when we're in the starting grid for our timed runs?
In a typical TT week-end, there are many special moments: the first time on the track, the first fast lap, tailing your competition until you get the pass sign and then passing, seeing your fastest time posted etc. But, nothing quite compares to the aniticipation of waiting your turn in the starting grid for the timed runs on Sunday and then blasting out of there for what you hope will be your best effort of the week-end!!
Besides all the other good points that others have made about why the format shouldn't be changed, I'd like to offer the thought that part of the addiction we have to this sport comes from the excitement and part of the excitement comes from the format. Why would we want to change that?

I agree about the format and excitement; however, I guess my excitment factor with this format has been reduced. The proposed format changes would enhance the excitement in my opinion.

You got a point there, I'll take a ride with you  But seriously, when I complete my weight lose program and put a chasis stiffining roll cage in things might get a bit more exciting. Mike idea of club racing is not that far off........

I guess I am pretty late but I have to throw my two cents worth in.
I had a ton of fun this year at all the events (well, maybe not Spring Mountain). Many thanks to Jack for his continued work. Just too bad we cannot get better participation so we could have a few more events. Anyone going to the POC event at Buttonwillow this weekend? Mike D?

Yup, I'll be there! Had to get a new windshield to pass tech, which was installed this AM :D . This is going to be my first Orange Race. And after the incedent at PIR I am more than a bit nervous to get back on the track with those guys .

See ya at the track!

Good news Mikey!
When are you going up?
I'm going to see about getting a garage (good if it rains) --I should be there around 3pm Friday.

I'm not exactly sure. I'm leaving whenever Jae finishes up with the car. As early as possible though.

I will be leaving Temecula around 1pm I hope and try and beat some of the traffic. 15 to the 210 is a nightmare!!!

I'm gonna try 5 -> 57 -> 210 again and see if I can get it right this time. A lot of people like to go up to the 605 instead of 57. But I've done the 57 route twice now during the day and it's been clean both times (where I got messed up was in Pasadena on the 210, but I think I have a handle on that now). Whereas taking the 605 you have to go through south L.A. I don't think I have ever been on 5 from La Mirada to the 605 without hitting dead-stop traffic. But we'll see as it seems like you have better odds of coming home from Vegas a winner than you do of getting though L.A. cleanly.

Have you ever tried 15 -> 91 -> 71 -> 57 -> 210? Seems like when the 15 is messed up it starts just north of 91 and stays that way until 15/215 merge. Although I've never been on 91 or 71 so they may suck just as bad, but it looks like a more north-westerly route.

Never went the last route you mentioned. In fact, the only time I took 15 to 210, it was OK traffic-wise, but it seemed like a LONG, LONG haul!!
I-5 has been a nightmare whenever I have taken it. Interestingly, the last couple of times, I have taken 405, which you don't mention, and joined 5 north of the San Fernando Valley. The only hangup was around LAX and it didn't last long.
The last time we returned from BW (a TCCRA event in Oct.), Jae and Anthony and Slow Dave took I-5 thru LA. I left I-5 and got on 405 (near Magic Mt.) at about the same time. I ran into them a few miles south of the I-5/405 merge in Orange Cty. So, it took us both about the same time, regardless of route. Go figure.
The whole thing is a pain in the *ss.
We need a local track!!!!!!
