New raceway? Very cool!

I've Google-Earth'ed the area. The images I saw indicated there's ... not a lot of anything out there. I mean ... anything.

It'll be peaceful, quiet, scenic ... and the world's biggest sand box to play in. :burnout:

I'm curious to see how much they get done by October. Otherwise:
- Sleep ... in the sand
- Have breakfast ... in the sand
- Take a stroll around the grounds ... in the sand
- Attend the Driver's Meeting ... in the sand
- Warm up the car, get to pre-grid, drive the session without going off ... into the sand.
- have sandwiches here (sand-which-is-here) ... in the sand

Anyway, I have a 4x4 in case anyone gets stuck ... in the sand. :banghead:

Let's hope there are no construction delays. 8) Maybe I'll wait for Buttonwillow. :beerchug:

Peter and I were there on Monday;
All of the rock base is placed for the pits and paving is starting today. All of the curbs are in for the track, the track surface area is compacted to 95%, and the rock base is made. We test drove the track in both directions and could not decide which we liked better. They will have race gas, a pit area, a well designed track and towers for the corner workers. What else do you want? Come to the Tech Session and see the video.

Hmm ...

Shade would be nice. Maybe a restroom. Water is always good, too. Uhm, how 'bout some "normal" gas like 91-octane? Oh, there's always a need for a place to sit and relax, so maybe a chair, or ... lounge? Food. Food would be good to have at some point in a 24 hour period (Oh wait ... there's sand-which-is-here :banghead: I forgot.), so maybe a food consessionaire? A cconvenience store closer than Palm Springs might be a neat idea.

Or ... maybe I'm just being too demanding. (All in jest, of course  ) I remember my first Spring Mountain event: I was priviledged to get a whole 15'X15' square piece of asphalt for the weekend. Gosh, how nice! (At least they had 91-octane for $4.50 a gallon :surr: ). Lovely.

I guess I'm showing my age. I used to sleep in a sling tied to a granite wall in the old days of rock climbing. Now, anything less than a feather bed and a warm glass of milk and I reject the notion out of hand. Getting old sucks.

Dan
I never realized you were that finicky :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
What do you do on job sites while checking compaction?

However just to make you happy :beerchug:
I will bring my 10x10 tent and chairs for you to lounge in.
I will bring a cooler and fill it for you.
Maybe Isabella will cater lunch for us again.
All run-off areas are compacted to 90% (unless you decide to go overland to Phoenix)
We live to serve.

Just down the road is McGoo's corner store (ice, water etc)
They have 91 gas on site for about $3.50/gallon.
The hotel is about 45 minutes away.

Besides where is your sense of adventure?

BTW, Did I mention the big bush with the hole next to it?

I attended one of the Chuckwalla local track briefs.
In the CC direction turn 13 is an 800 foot long 10 degree on camber 180 degree turn leading to turn 12.
Turn 12 is an uphill 4 degree off camber right hand turn. :?
Turn 11 is a left with good camber.
Looking forward to trying it this spring or fall.

As General Manager, I drive up to the tech in my Air-Condidtioned truck, roll down the window and ask "How's it looking?" Then I roll the window back up and drive away. 8)

Cool ... except, whick hotel is 45 minutes drive away? The only thing possibly close is a truck stop. I'm not about to knock on any sleepers. :nono:

Hah! Married to Monica is plenty adventurous!!

Dan,

Chuckwalla Valley Raceway is just like Buttonwillow without all those fancy hotels and 5 star restaurants

On a serious note, this event is still 7 months down the line, but the track will have 91, 100 and 110 fuel. The nearest gas station off the I-10 is 24 miles away. The nearest hotel is 40 minutes toward Indio. BUT, when Martin and I went on track with the owner, I was excited about the possibilty of running there. The fact of the matter is it's going to be a really fun track CW and even better CCW. It's worth the wait and the trip to the desert and closer than Buttonwillow and 1/2 the distance to Pahrump, NV! :beerchug:

EDIT: Rumor is the Avitt's are renting out space in their motor coach for this DE!!!

If you want to be one of the first drivers on the track, check this out:

The latest and newest track gets paved next week. Mark Livesay and myself have rented the track (Chuckwalla Valley Raceway) for the sole
purpose for putting as many miles on this new and exciting track as we can at it's inaugural car event. Yes, you can be a member of this first
group of track junkies, We will have all the amenities for a safe and fun track environment; ambulance , corner workers, tow truck, etc.
Three run groups should give us all 2.5 hours of track time per day……over two days….April 10 and 11, 2010. There are a limited number of entrants
for each run group so first come first in. Both days will run you $300, one day is $185, with priority placement for 2 day entrants.

This is a lapping day function, absolutely no racing. This is a new track for us all and to complicate things even more it can be run in either direction,
and we will be mixing it up !!! Just when you thought you had it all figured out- you have to learn a new track!! This is the place to hone your
driving skills and have fun. Check the track out online as well as us twofoolstrackday@gmail.com, Give either of us a call if you have any questions. Get your applications in soon as this will be a sold out event.

Why not, I hear a good looking guy like you can make some good money at the truck stops :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Here is a map that came up on a Google search of local hotels and we are working on a discounted hotel deal at a local Casino.
I plan to drive to the hotel the night before and finish the trip in the morning.
