Hi Dave,
Dave I understand your position that you do not want to see entry fees increased due to paid corner workers. "If" paid corner workers were made available with no increase to the current entry fee would that interest you?
Let me ramble back at ya.
I read your post and it seems your concern is to keep the AX entry fees reasonable. Imho I feel the current entry fee is fair for day of entertainment in Mission Valley. I think the entry fee value though is shaded by the fact that the AX is the club's cash cow.
This gets into politics and board meeting agendas but it would be interesting to see what is the minimum entry fee required to break even for a typical 80 car AX? Break even with respect to supporting all the equipment wear and tear too. 80 cars x $40=$3200. How much does the club profit from an average AX event?
The profits from each AX event are impressive and support several other club functions. These profits are combined with profits from the hugely successful Performance driving school. What these incomes have in common is that they are generated by volunteers. Most of them volunteer instructors that teach at the AX, TT and the PDS events too.
If we can’t roll back the AX entry fees to what they were 5 years ago perhaps we could consider adding event value.
My take is that some of the AX racers would like to see a small part of these combined profits be reinvested into the AX events in the form of paid corner workers.
I think someone mentioned they would pay an extra $5 to have someone watch their corner for 90 minutes. I suggest the club absorb the cost of the paid corner workers.
With regards to high AX entry fees and paid corner workers a board meetings dicussion may go something like this...The club’s big picture is that it’s not just a Porsche AX club and the needs of the non income generating segments of the club need to be addresed as well. Makes sense too.
edited my basic entry fee math to $40.
