Carrera GT record at Nurburgring falls

Postby ttweed on Tue Dec 28, 2004 6:52 am

Porsche's claim of the world's fastest production car was vaporized Nov. 24th on the Nordschleife when a puny little 1800cc LL7 (Looks Like a 7) car from Holland beat the Carrera GT's time by 15 seconds, according to this story on the VWVortex site.

The manufacturer's website can be found here:

Hmm... looks remarkably like a Caterham with some slight variations in the body work. Although, I think I would much rather have the German build Audi engine over the English Rover or MG engines.

Yah, Mike, the LL7 in my post above means "Looks Like a 7" (edited it just now.)

I agree with you on the engine choice. The Rover 1.8 just doesn't do it for me. There is a Ford 2.0 Zetec motor available also, and of course, a Cosworth twin cam can be slipped into a Caterham for the wide of wallet, but I like the Honda S2000 engine in mine for a nice mix of performance and reliability, and the Honda 6-speed is like butter compared to the Caterham tranny.

ps- the Donkeyfart comment was funny, sushinav!
