We will make it $20 with free helmet rental, That is a very good deal. There is a lot of paper wok involved in this. I just hope that this does not cause a instructor shortage for our students. :surr:

Erik and AX chairs,
I too have a "friend" who we just sold a 944. I wanted him to come down and show him what that car is capable of, but it is my understanding from the board meeting last night (although I didn't attend) that I might hold off until the December event so the powers that be can sort this out. As you can see, there are many different opinions, but ultimately who makes the decision? I don't.

From the way I read the existing rules, it is the event chair that makes the determination. I started this thread to see if it would be OK for me to bring a "car guy" friend who is interested in experiencing an Autocross as a passenger on Sunday. Jerry has said he is OK w/ a $20 fee including helmet rental. That sounds fine to me, and I'm planning on doing it. I've already written the check to bring down and filled out an entry form for him. I'll see that he signs the waiver in tech, attends the drivers meeting, and he can work corners w/ me. (I don't see that as a bummer--it's a different perspective for him on the action and more time for us to talk about the sport and how it works.)

I'm stoked, and so is he. If we're deluded and/or premature in making these plans, I don't hear that in this discussion so far.

Tom, you are good to go. The Board gave Jerry the "go ahead" to figure it out and make it happen. He's going to report back to the Board in December with a more formal approach. But, for this weekend, Jerry is the man to see.

Kim - You've done some great research. Thanks.

I'll continue to work with Jerry Bumpus on this for the December Board meeting.

Also just to try to keep things straight, at one of the autocrosses after the Veterans Ride Along Tour, the vets came, presented us a flag of appreciation, and then they spent half the day getting rides with various instructors.

This sounds like a fair price. Even Crack dealers know enough to give the first hits free. That's why the DE team lovingly called it "Taste of the CracK". One hit and you are hooked on racing. We should be encouraging new vic... uh, uh members, not scaring them away.
