Jalopnik found this 914 with a Chevy engine and some import body panels plastered to it on ebay:

Don't even know what to say.

Based on his design style I am thinking that perhaps Styx explain this gent best. Make sure you listen through the first chorus.

Wow John! That lets us in on a rare car...and new information. Mainly that John DeLorian wasnt the design genius people claimed him to be...he just copied Giugiaro's design for the Tapiro! :roflmao:

I seem to remember Sean Malloy showing up at an AX some 6-7 years ago with a Chevy V8 powered 914.

Sean, what ever happened to that thing?

I joined PCA 5 years ago this Dec. the first car I showed up with was a white 1.7 914. after about 4 AX and completing its restoration, i sold it. then i signed up for the PDS. I brought my V8 914 project there. it has a Rayco body kit that I lothe but once you wake up the 401 RWHP you forget about all that and just hang on. at the time it had stock 914/4 brakes and suspension. Tom C was very clear about what he thought of me and that "abomination" at his Porsche club. I was asked by several club members not to return with it so i built the orange 2.0 914. it was the best advise I was ever forced to take.
now that I have learned to drive a little better, I am considering bringing it back. I love the 10jreen but 90 hp is frustrating me to tears. the V8 car now has vented rotors, S calipers, Koni yellers, 23mm torsions, 22mm front bar, lsd and 50 more horses. hell, I might even paint it. these 10 and 12 inch wide wheels might help too. since I no longer care about car class, this just might be the ticket for next years SDR AX

Absolutely, bring it out, Sean. It'll be fun for everyone to see it and watch what you can do with it.

I could get served a dose of humility with 400 hp as easily as with 90hp. I still cant put the 10jreen where I want it to go. more hp, while more entertaining for ya'll, wont fix that.
I do need some more driving instruction. any volunteers?

A 914 with 400 hp? Maybe you should see if Steve Grosekemper has any of his old oil-barrel tires from his 914. I think they were rated by OPEC instead of DOT.

the car is stupid-fast. Dan got a ride in it back when it had stock 4-banger brakes and I ran it on 205s. Meeder got to experience my inexperience with a couple 360s at about 70-ish+. what an idiot i was. you guys really changed my life forever.
I have some centerline steamrollers for it now

Yeah, that thing was fast ... and ugly. Ugly fast. "Fugly." "Race Team Fugly?" Now there's a Race Team for ya. We can park you next to "Shaved Monkey Racing" (Eeeesh, what a draft when the wind blows!), and Team "AXWhippingBoy Racing" (The Holy Speed Demons).

I say ... bring it out. Dust it of, paint it yellow (gotta do the "red and black flames on the hood and front fenders" thing - SWEET!) ... and tear it up!! You've got the brakes, balance, and suspension now. Just get ready to defend your power-plant to the Tech Scrutineers.
