Jan. 14th Track Throwing Party!

Postby Mmagus on Tue Jan 04, 2011 10:14 am

Hey there all you AXing guys and gals, want to get a peek at the track the day before you run it? Want to have the whole evening to contemplate just how to approach the sweeper that might kick your tail, or how to set up for the fastest line through the esses?

Then Come on Out to the Q on Jan.14th and help throw the track! It will be a PARTY! The festivities start 3pm and go until we are done. Bring your favorite hat, beverage, maybe a jacket in case its cool, some gloves to handle those cones and a fun attitude. It gets dark at 5:05 so we will be doing things quickly and in this case “Many hands make light work.” Meet in the west lot under the trolley track.

Drop a post if you are coming so we know who to look for!

there was some talk of cold patch...is that a Home Depot item? can we do some patches? will they help for the 15th? I dont know how cold patch works. does it need to "cure"?

Hi ya Sean. Thanks for jumping in! I have never used it, and have no idea what the cure time is. I would guess a good tamping item would be necessary. Here is where I found it when checking:

I'll mozzie on down. Should I bring "The Pearl?"

To use cold-patch: bring leather gloves, a 2X4 about 5' long for "flat-laying" over the hole, and use the front tires of a full-sized pick-up truck as the "roller". Lay down two "lifts" (layers) if the hole is more than 1 inch deep; rolling each lift. Lifts should not be more than 1 inch thick. "Curing" takes about 2 to 3 hours in 60-degree weather (no moisture preferred). Overnight should be fine, even if it's cold outside. It will definitely be cured by timed runs. :burnout: (Don't let any City workers/Union workers see you. You're steeling their job. They'll chase you off and report you for defacing city property. Ask me how I know. )

2 varieties at HD the last time I checked: $4.00 bag and $8.00 bag. Either bag covers about 2' by 3' by 2" thick.

Niiiice! This is getting to be quite a Track Throwing Party, so to put the "Party" at the end of the Track Throwing event, I'm extending an invitation to everyone that helps Mr. Bray with this endeavor to rendezvous at the Alamo in Old Town, & relax, have some food & beer & pat ourselves on the back for a job well done! :beerchug:

Oh . . . and it's on the house, courtesy of my sponsor.

Thanks for the trailer delivery Jim! As to the women and the booze...if you read the invitation it does say bring a "beverage" what kind is up to you. Plus, Kari will be there working away with the rest of us, and she is QUITE a cone setter! I didn't mention it because I didn't want a mob situation... :roflmao: .
