944Spec & Boxster Spec BRI for 2012

Postby tb911 on Sat Jan 08, 2011 9:49 am

Would all of the 944 Spec and Boxster Spec drivers please post their 2012 CC class in this thread?
I need to determine what the new BRI for you should be compared to the CC classes.
(No, the spec classes are not going away, I just need to see where you would line up against the CC classes.)

Hi Tom,

Dave and Dan Hockett BSX/LS(4pt)/CC12 (420 points)
All Boxster Spec X (BSX) should be CC12

Tom.
It would appear that most of the SPEC 944's would point out between 410 - 440. I think ours is 430. CC12

My 944 spec points out about 410 or 420.

That sounds right. 944 Spec and BSX cars always run pretty close. Whoever gets the cleanest lap wins... as it should be. :D

Typical 944 Spec Car should point out around 450 to 490 points. Your car may have some or all of these points. This would put most Spec 944's in CC11. Spec cars that are not optimized would probably run in CC12.
Base car 200 points
tires and tread wear 80 points (225/50/15 RA1 front and back)
springs 20 points
sway bars 20 points
camber plates 20 points
shock tower brace 10 points
limited slip 20 points
weight (assume car weighs 2450 - 2550 lbs without driver) 80 to 120 points

Ok, here is my best guess from the 2011 Boxster Spec rules:

BSR/Boxster Spec Race car
Base- 295
Tires- 110
Sways- 20
PSS9s ??- 20
Springs- 20
GT3 A arms- 20
Weight 2650 w/driver (will vary)- 100
Mod pts 290
Total pts 585 (CC9)

Weight points are figured without driver. Base weight is listed on the appendix c model chart in the rules. First 50 lbs are free. 1996 - 1999 Boxster base weight is 2850 lbs. If the car weighs 2650 w/driver you should subtract the weight of the driver. Lets say the driver weighs 175 lbs. Car now weighs 2475. 2850 - 2475 = 375. subtract first 50 lbs (free!)= 325 lbs x .40 = 130 points. (All weight points are rounded up to the nearest 10 point increment). A fully optimized BSR could be around 615 +/- points. That would put them in CC8.

Thanks Mark, I think I am pretty clear on the weight issue. Remember that with PCA you are allowed to put the spare and tools back in the car and top off with a full tank of gas to meet model base weight (another 100 lbs?). That is how I made my guesstimate. A big strappin guy will also take more weight points than a 90 pounder based on the PCA weight calc. So yes a BSR car could be CC9 or CC8 depending on weight.

Example:
Car weighs 2450 min. on fumes
200lb driver with racing gear
Add spare, tools top off tank (100lbs?)
car weighs 2550 +50lbs free
Base weight 2850-2600=250x.4=100pts

That's assuming that the BSR owner still has his tools (only the ones that came with the car) and spare tire(not the one around his waist).
